MIDTOWN DIRECT REP is pleased to announce a reading of Kara Lee Corthron's (Princess Grace Award-winner) Listen For The Light, directed by Amy Saltz (Almost Maine), as part of Midtown Direct Rep's play development series focuses on new and innovative American theatre: Theatre in the Loft. Thoroughly Modern Millie may be a recent Broadway hit, but this masterpiece deserves it's place alongside the classics of American musical theatre, and the cast of Millie at the Ogunquit Playhouse deserves more than a mere footnote in this show's history.
For the fifth year, the Ogunquit Playhouse is joining the fight to eradicate polio worldwide by hosting Rotary Night at the theatre. The Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion of every ticket purchased to Thoroughly Modern Millie for the Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 8:00 p.m. performance to the York Rotary Club. The Playhouse seeks to raise $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a developmental reading of Sounds Like Love, a new comedy by Arnold B. Horwitt (Make Mine Manhattan, Plain and Fancy) featuring three original songs by Horwitt, Tony Award winner Albert Hague (Plain and Fancy, The Fig Leaves Are Falling) and Grammy Award winner Allan Sherman (The Fig Leaves Are Falling). Originally written circa 1955, the previously unproduced play is adapted and directed by Ben West (At Home Abroad, Make Mine Manhattan, Gatsby).

Three years ago, when baby #2 made his appearance, my husband and I took a deep breath and plunged our lives, head first, into this quaint suburban haven. (Full disclosure, I cried in my cross-over vehicle as we waved goodbye to a decade of memories in our Upper West Side apartment).

Daytime Emmy Award nominee, Matthew Ashford joins Sally Struthers and the cast of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 the Musical as Franklin Hart Jr. in the Ogunquit Playhouse production. Fresh from his recent topple into an elevator shaft as Jack Devereaux on NBC's daytime drama, "Days of Our Lives," Mr. Ashford will perform the role of the egotistical, lying and hypocritical boss through September 15th.
