The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the winners of the NYMF 2014 Awards for Excellence. Awards are voted on by the NYMF jury and the awards were presented at the closing night celebration on July 27th at Arena Events Space.

The hysterical new musical Academia Nuts has been selected to kick off the first week of the celebrated New York Musical Theatre Festival with performances from July 9-13, 2014 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street). Academia Nuts has book and lyrics by Becca Anderson & Dan Marshall, and music by Julian Blackmore, with direction by Thomas Caruso, musical direction by Martyn Axe, and choreography by Ryan Kasprzak. Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative and Little Black Dress INK present a day of playreadings and connections to celebrate Support Women Artists Now Day. SWAN Day Action Fest takes place at Samuel French Bookshop in Hollywood today, March 29 from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Following a sold-out show in January, Broadway Melodies returns to the West End Theater for an all-new comedy spectacular. The show will consist of three 20-minute musical sketch comedies. This month's event will include Into the Globe by Lori Mannette, You're a Good Man, Charlie Sheen by Becca Anderson, and Love Never Dies: the LIVE Movie Musical by Victoria Saxton.

The 10 musicals were announced as part of the 11th edition of the Festival, which will take place from July 7 to July 27 at locations around midtown Manhattan in New York City, including The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

Yesterday's SIPs come from the national tours of GODSPELL, FLASHDANCE, EVITA, WE WILL ROCK YOU, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and WICKED! Plus, check out shots from a slew of regional productions of AVENUE Q, OTHER DESERT CITIES, THE FANTASTICKS, and more.
