Casting Update for HAMLET at American Conservatory Theater

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) kicks off its 2017-18 season with William Shakespeare's tragic masterpiece, Hamlet (September 20-October 15, 2017). Obie Award winner and 2017 Tony Award nominee (Best Featured Actor in a Play, Jitney; Satchmo at the Waldorf, A.C.T.) John Douglas Thompson leads a stellar cast of beloved Bay Area actors in Shakespeare's ghostly tale of revenge, palace intrigue, and madness. Shattered by the mysterious death of his father, the king, and shamed by the unnatural acts of his mother, Hamlet's despair has left him a devastated prince.

'70s Rockers Ambrosia to Play Alhambra This May

In its continued effort to maximize its intimate setting, offer new entertainment fare to its guests and celebrate its 50th Anniversary season, the Alhambra Theatre & Dining is hosting the popular 70's rock band, Ambrosia. With its roots in the California rock scene, Ambrosia had five hit singles including 'Biggest Part of Me,' 'You're the only Woman' and 'How Much I Feel,' each of which were nominated for Grammy Awards. Ambrosia will play on the Alhambra's iconic stage on Monday, May 8, 2017, for one night only.

BWW Interview: Paige Silvester is 16 Going On 17 in THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Playing the oldest Von Trapp daughter, Liesl, is Paige Silvester. The role was made famous by the recently deceased Charmain Carr (may she rest in peace) in the 1965 film by the same name. Silvester hails from Sacramento, California; earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan; is no stranger to the stage; and writes a really fun blog. She grew up dancing, singing, and acting, and has performed The Muny, Sacramento Music Circus, and was most recently seen in the ensemble of the Broadway 1st National Tour of EVITA.

Alhambra Announces 2016 Season, Plus Venue Improvements

The 49th season for the Alhambra Theatre & Dining has been so well received by its existing subscriber base, the iconic theater had to add staff to keep up with demand. Its nine-show slate received nearly a 100% renewal rate and the second wave of sales to newsletter subscribers received the highest volume in the six-year history of the new ownership group. Subscriber packages, known as Season Partnerships, as well as single-show tickets are on sale Thursday to the general public.
