Dance Now Announces Lineup For 2018 DANCE NOW FESTIVAL

DANCE NOW is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2018 DANCE NOW Festival. Acclaimed for its adventurous short-takes format, the DANCE NOW Festival presents a diverse array of works by some of today's most exciting dance makers. The 23rd season of this lively fall festival will feature 40 emerging and established choreographers, including DANCE NOW veterans and festival newcomers. The festival emcee is TruDee (aka Deborah Lohse). The 2018 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 5-8, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 27, at 7pm.

The classic Musical 'Mame' opened the 2018 season last night at NSMT. The Musical by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, with Lyrics by Jerry Herman, and based on the book by Patrick Dennis, is a 1966 Musical Theatre warhorse that has starred such luminaries as, Rosalind Russell, Angela Landsbury, and even Lucille Ball, in the ill-fated 1970's movie.

Soul Food Sessions, a nonprofit started in 2017 to break stereotypes and enhance opportunities for African American chefs, today unveils plans for The Table is Set: A Four-City Tour Served With A Coke that will begin in Charlotte and hit the road to three new East Coast cities this year. The organization is also dropping the first episode of a podcast series that will be hosted by New York Times Best Selling Author and Television Personality Gina Neely.

Eliot Feld's KIDS DANCE, 40 whizkids aged 11 to 18, returns to the Joyce for six performances, including the premieres of Feld's Pointing 2 and Pointing 3, three of Feld's masterworks: The Jig is Up, Meshugana Dance, and Apple Pie, and a repeat of last season's It's the Effort That Counts, with choreography by Stephanie Terasaki, Conner Bormann and Riley O'Flynn, all graduates of Juilliard. June 7-10 at The Joyce Theater.
