Henry Nary Announces the Release of 'Allred's Deed' Henry Nary wanted to write about the Civil War and learned about the story of Elias Allred of Pickens County who defied the Southern Confederacy. His story inspired Nary to come up with the novel, "Allred's Deed" (published by Archway Publishing), a historical tale based on true events. It is 1864, and fear is gripping the nation. Elias Allred is a man of God who sworn to protect and defend the citizens who elected him to the Georgia House of Representatives. Allred is also a man with a torn conscience, for he holds a deep secret. As the Sherman army draws near, Allred has no idea that he will soon be forced to make a dire choice.

Amid the raging savagery in North Georgia, Allred decides to lead a small party on a mission of mercy. When a relative is tragically murdered, Allred enters into an unholy alliance with the mysterious James Brown. Allred is enticed by his lofty claims and powerful tactics. However, what he does not know is that Brown has other plans for him too. As Allred is led to spy against Georgia and the Confederacy, he develops his own plan and allegiances that take him down a path to ultimately escape his situation. With warrant on his head, only time will tell if Allred will find freedom or be captured dead or alive.

"I think we can all learn from the Civil War and its impact on how we see what is now happening in politics with such a society breakdown," Nary points out. "After reading this novel, readers will realize the consequence of what happens when hearts and minds collide."
