Lineup Announced for DANCE NOW's 2017 Festival Encore at Joe's Pub

DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2017 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 12 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2017 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim Presents THE PRINCIPLES OF UNCERTAINTY

Choreographer John Heginbotham and author/illustrator Maira Kalmandiscuss their newest collaboration featuring imaginative production design and whimsical dance theater inspired by Kalman's written work and visual art. Following the world premiere at Jacob's Pillow and before the New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Dance Heginbotham and members of The Knights orchestra will perform highlights set to a score composed, curated, and arranged by the orchestra's artistic director Colin Jacobsen.

ACQUANETTA, FELLOW TRAVELERS, THE ECHO DRIFT and More Among PROTOTYPE Festival's 2018 Lineup

PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now invigorates New York City January 7-20, 2018, with the sixth annual showcase of progressive opera and music-theatre, curated by co-founding directors Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of Beth Morrison Projects) and Kim Whitener (of HERE), along with newly appointed co-director Jecca Barry (of Beth Morrison Projects). Since its launch in 2013, the Prototype Festival has presented a phenomenal 32 new works across five seasons, propelling the industry forward as a first-rate presenter and influencer.

Dance Now Announces 2017 DANCE NOW Festival, 9/6-9 at Joe's Pub

DANCE NOW is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2017 DANCE NOW Festival. Acclaimed for its adventurous short-takes format, the annual DANCE NOW Festival presents an eclectic array of works by some of today's most exciting dance makers. The 22nd season of this exuberant showcase will feature 40 emerging and established choreographers side by side, including DANCE NOW veterans and festival newcomers. The 2017 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 6-9, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 28, at 7pm.  

THE RECEPTION by Sean Donovan & Sebastián Calderón Bentin Comes to HERE 6/14-24

HERE proudly presents the world premiere of The Reception, a HERE Resident Artist Production, as part of its 2016-2017 producing season.  Created by Sean Donovan and Sebastian Calderon Bentin (Donovan & Calderon) in collaboration with the company, and co-directed by Sebastian Calderon Bentin and Sean Donovan, this new dance theater work is performed by Jane Comfort, Leslie Cuyjet, Sean Donovan, Hannah Heller and Ishmael Houston Jones. The Reception will have 10 performances, June 14 - 24, at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street).

Gibney Dance Company Performs Work by Joanna Kotze and Reggie Wilson, 5/4-6

Gibney Dance Company is set to perform a newly commissioned work by Joanna Kotze and re-imagined works by Reggie Wilson at Lower Manhattan's Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center May 4–6. The program marks the second annual edition of GRIT: Gibney Repertory Initiative for Tomorrow, created to simultaneously commission new works from and re-imagine signature works by contemporary dance artists.

CASABLANCABOX Begins Tonight at HERE

HERE proudly presents CasablancaBox, a HERE Resident Artist Production, as part of its 2016-2017 producing season.  Written by Sara Farrington and directed by Reid Farrington, this original multi-media play will have 23 performances, in a premiere production, April 5 - 29 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street).

HERE Presents CULTUREMART 2017 Next Month

The OBIE-winning HERE proudly presents CULTUREMART 2017, taking place March 15 - 25.  In this annual festival, CULTUREMART, process becomes the focus, offering a first look at live performance in various stages of development from the boundary-breaking artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP) as they journey to mainstage production.
