The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC), the world's first child protection agency, will honor Vice Chairman of Lazard, Steven J. Golub and Emmy-award winning journalist and Dateline NBC correspondent, Chris Hansen with the Strength of Our Society Award at its 2010 Gala on November 18 at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. Mr. Golub also serves as a Managing Director in the Banking Group of Lazard and serves on the New York Management Committee. Mr. Hansen is being honored for his groundbreaking investigative reporting into on-line child predators.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, producers Jeffrey Seller and Kevin McCollum, resurrected the infamous flop musical CARRIE for an Equity reading that had a notoriously short 3 night, 5 performance run on Broadway in 1988. The reading took place on November 20, 2009. The hope is to bring 'Carrie' and her supernatural powers back to the Broadway stage.

Hawkins, best known for having the longest running hit single on the Billboard Chart -- As I Lay Me Down ( 67 weeks) - and the pop hit Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover, will be donating 100% of the net proceeds from her new single 'The Land, the Sea and the Sky' to benefit Waterkeeper Alliance, an organization of on-the-water advocates who patrol and protect more than 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines in North and South America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa.
