The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC), the world's first child protection agency, held its annual fall benefit on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at The Metropolitan Club in Manhattan. This year, The NYSPCC's benefit was their Inaugural Wine Dinner. The 215 guests, dressed in festive attire, enjoyed an extraordinary menu designed by renowned chef, Jonathan Waxman, of Barbuto, and featured excellent wines from the Napa Valley winery, Tournesol. The cocktail hour kicked off the evening with wine tasting tables sponsored by Bespoke, Far Niente, Millbrook Vineyards and Winery, OneHope and Premier Cru Wine Merchants. Lakeshore Records has released DEAR DUMB DIARY - Original Television Soundtrack digitally and it will be available on CD October 1, 2013. Emily Alyn Lind enrolls in Mackerel Middle School to portray Jamie Kelly - the diary keeper of Jim Benton's beloved books-turned-Hallmark Channel movie. Lind performs seven original songs for the soundtrack including, "Dear Dumb Diary," "My Awesomeness is Awesome," and "Dear Future Jamie," a cover of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi," and the new single, "Same Girl." The album also features a Karaoke mix of the title track.

On COMMUNITY's upcoming episode, titled 'Herstory of Dance,' when Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) plans a 'Sadie Hawkins' dance at Greendale, Britta (Gillian Jacobs) plans a competing 'Sophie B. Hawkins' dance in protest - but the joke is on Britta - who has confused Sophie B. Hawkins with Susan B. Anthony. Joel McHale, Chevy Chase, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover and Ken Jeong also star. 'Herstory of Dance' airs April 4 at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.

I am not really sure where to begin with my praise for Sophie B. Hawkins after seeing her commanding performance as Janis Joplin in Gig Gaston's new musical 'Room 105 - The Highs and Lows' which ended its 4-month run tonight at the Macha Theatre in West Hollywood. I will start by saying that Hawkins is not playing Janis Joplin - she IS Janis from the moment she literally crawls onto the stage and belts out her first number.
