The Society of Composers & Lyricists has announced nominees and honorees for the 7th Annual SCL Awards, taking place February 6, 2026. Highlights include a Rocky 50th anniversary tribute and the Spirit of Collaboration Award honoring Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler.
ROCKY hit Broadway last night, officially opening with stars Andy Karl and Margo Seibert at Broadway's historic Winter Garden Theatre. The show features an original score by Stephen Flahertyand Lynn Ahrens and a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the 1976 Oscar-winning Best Picture, Rocky.The production is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Steven Hoggett, and Kelly Devine. The hit 1976 film Rocky - the tale of the prize boxer epitomized by Sylvester Stallone - is in development to be adapted as a stage musical. Rocky the musical will feature the skills Tony Award-winning book-writer, Thomas Meehan with songs by Tony Award-winning team Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (composer).
