Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple), four-time Grammy Award nominee Josh Groban (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Tony Award winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), and Tony nominees Carolee Carmello (Sweeney Todd) and Santino Fontana (Cinderella, TV's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) are joining the spectacular cast of Broadway Backwards, a show celebrating equality, community and love through gender-reversed interpretations of the great songs of musical theatre.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's first landmark collaboration is in great hands at Riverside Center in Fredericksburg. The production allows the power of the original musical to come to life with a talented cast, expert direction, and fleet-footed choreography.
There may only be a few remaining performances of Lyric Stage's ANYTHING GOES, but there's still plenty to see and hear before the ship sails beyond closing night this Sunday. The show (which features a cast of 37 actors and an astounding 33-piece orchestra) appears as a never-before-seen edit, written exclusively for Lyric Stage by musical director and conductor Jay Dias. With over three hours of old fashioned musical theatre comedy on stage, there's surely something to please the whole family in this lavish, timeless tale.
Although it has been revived in New York three times - twice on Broadway and once Off-Broadway - and is frequently produced by community and school groups, ANYTHING GOES has not been seen in its original form since it closed on Broadway in 1935. The original 1934 version of ANYTHING GOES will set sail at Lyric Stage June 17-26, 2016 in the Irving Arts Center's Carpenter Performance Hall. THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER might be a show Riverside Center has to bring back again real soon. But your job is to get tickets to it now. Patrick A'Hearn has assembled a winning cast to showcase more than 30 songs from the great and near great Webber musicals. Fans of CATS, EVITA, and even STARLIGHT EXPRESS can revel in songs from these and a dozen other titles.
Richmond Triangle Players closes its season with the Sam Mendes revival of Kander and Ebb's CABARET, which has returned to Broadway for a limited engagement at Studio 54. While it would be a real treat to see Alan Cumming, Michelle Williams and company, the Triangle Players' production stands well on its own.

Burstyn, a two-time Kinor David-winner (Israel's Oscar), starred in Folksbiene's widely acclaimed hit musical revue 'On Second Avenue' for which he earned a 2006 best actor in a musical Drama Desk nomination. The show will close on June 27.
