Ephemera invites you to immerse yourself in a dance theater experience featuring a scintillating love triangle, a completely original score, and sinfully delicious cocktails.

' I walk into a large white room. It's a dance studio in midtown Manhattan. To some people, this empty room symbolizes something profound, mysterious, and terrifying: the task of starting with nothing and working your way toward creating something whole and beautiful and satisfying.' This passionate verse from Twyla Tharp's book 'The Creative Habit' initially spawned the idea for the concept of Manhattan's annual event, The Choreographers Canvas. Now itn its ninth year, The Canvas is a platform for emerging and established choreographers to showcase their work Off-Broadway to industry professionals and the general public. This year Canvas will perform in one of New York's most prestigious venues for dance, the 92nd Street Y.

After selling out its initial run, I'LL SAY SHE IS, the legendary musical comedy that was the Broadway debut of the Marx Brothers, will extend its historic revival at The Connelly Theater through July 3.

Join Frank, Dean and Sammy when they come back in creeper form to croon their decomposed hearts out in Rat Pack Undead, a cabaret that lampoons the legendary icons' happy-go-lucky lifestyles from a not-so-fresh perspective. Songs performed will include, 'Come Die With Me,' 'Get Me to the Crypt on Time,' and the all time dead fanboy favorite, 'What Kind of Ghoul Am I.'

I'LL SAY SHE IS, the legendary musical comedy that was the Broadway debut of the Marx Brothers, originally opened 92 years ago today -- on May 19, 1924 at the 875-seat Casino Theatre on Broadway at 39th Street. It played for 313 performances before being lost to history. Thanks to Grouch Marx enthusiast Noah Diamond, I'LL SAY SHE IS will return to the stage in a historic new production at The Connelly Theater beginning previews May 28.

The 3rd season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab has been made possible by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation. The first lab of the season will launch March 1, 2016 at The Cell, and will showcase 4 new works created by 5 choreographers.

I'd heard of Jean Shepherd's work as an author when I was younger, but my first true exposure to him came in 1983 in a tiny, and mostly empty, movie theater where I sat and watched director Bob Clark's wonderful valentine to the late 1930's and early 1940's, A Christmas Story. I've since seen it go from sleeper to television staple, then to the stage in a theatrical version, and now I've had the opportunity to view it as a musical. I must say, this endearingly hilarious account of young Ralphie Parker and his quest to own a Red Ryder BB Gun (here essayed by either Evan Gray and Colton Maurer, with Cal Alexander as younger brother, Randy) is still funny to me all these years later. The musical, which is currently playing the Fabulous Fox Theatre, is a twinkling Christmas delight, with pleasant and lively numbers that aim to enhance key moments that you'll recall from the original. This is fun for the whole family, and my son and I had a terrific time.
