2016 Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival Kicks Off in July

The Riant Theatre, a nonprofit theatre providing a nurturing environment to playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, proudly presents the 2016 Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival. The Festival opens on July 14th and runs through July 31st. Each festival evening will feature a program of one to four plays out of twenty-nine one-act works presented in competition, and on selected evenings, one of four full-length plays. All performances are presented at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue).

Ato Essandoh ("Vinyl" (HBO), Mother Courage and Her Children, Shakespeare in the Park) will join Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Cal in Camo, Colt Coeur & Rattlestick Plawrights Theater), Genesis Oliver (How to Live on Earth, Colt Coeur), Adam Harrington (How to Live on Earth, Colt Coeur), Eden Marryshow (Pass Over, Cherry Lane), and Anna Loyd Bradshaw in a performance of new plays by Brooklyn public school students ages 11 to 15.

The new American play Eclipsed by Danai Gurira, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, officially opened last night, March 6th, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). The play also stars Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh and is directed by Liesl Tommy. HBO Renews VINYL for Second Season

Following the critically acclaimed launch of the show's first season, HBO has renewed the drama series VINYL for a second season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Created by Mick Jagger & Martin Scorsese & Rich Cohen and Terence Winter, the show is a ride through the sex- and drug-addled music business of the early 1970s at the dawn of punk, disco and hip-hop.
