Open Air Theatre Announces In-School Workshops For Primary Schools

Running from 21 June - 12 July 2014, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre presents Twelfth Night re-imagined for everyone aged six and over. Directed by Max Webster, this visually stimulating production uses only Shakespeare's original text to create a condensed version of this madcap tale of mistaken identity designed to entertain and enlighten a younger audience.

Pontiac Theatre IV presents Arthur Miller's The Crucible as the third production of the 2013-2014 season March 21-29, 2014 at Pontiac High School. The Crucible is set during the infamous witch trials of Salem, Mass., and was originally written as an allegory of 1950's McCarthyism. With overarching themes and exploration of intolerance, hysteria, and corruption within a community, the Tony award-winning play remains widely relevant and respected to this day.

On Monday, March 24, 2014, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (Charles Weldon, Artistic Director; Karen Brown, Executive Director) and Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) will unite in a day-long celebration of the life and works of Tony Award-nominated playwright Leslie Lee. Lee passed away in New York City on January 20, 2014.

Sinead Cusack and Clare Higgins are to play sisters Polly Wyeth and Silda Grauman respectively, in The Old Vic's UK premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's acclaimed play, Other Desert Cities, directed by Lindsay Posner. Further casting will be announced shortly.

The Old Globe today announced it will present two Shakespeare-themed events. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard.

The annual Order of the Golden Sphinx gala was held at the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. Heyman's critically acclaimed box office hit Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney received 10 Academy Award nominations and won an outstanding seven Oscars.
