New York Philharmonic Sets 2015-16 Season of New-Music Series CONTACT!

Entering its seventh season in 2015-16, CONTACT!, the Philharmonic's new-music series, will extend its reach across New York City through a new partnership with National Sawdust (formerly Original Music Workshop), a new, non-profit, state-of-the-art music venue opening in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in October 2015.

New York Phil to Present CONTACT! as Part of 'Focus on Japan'

The sixth season of CONTACT!, the New York Philharmonic's new-music series, concludes with "Focus on Japan," Friday, June 5, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, led by Jeffrey Milarsky in his Philharmonic debut. The program co-presented with Met Museum Presents, the live arts series at the Metropolitan Museum, will feature modern and contemporary works by Japanese composers and a work influenced by Japan: Takemitsu's Archipelago S for 21 players; Messiaen's Japan-inspired Sept Haikai, with Stephen Gosling as piano soloist; the U.S. Premiere of Misato Mochizuki's Si bleu, si calme; and the World Premiere-New York Philharmonic Commission of Dai Fujikura's Infinite String.

Passive Aggressive Novelty Company presenst the premiere of a.vanishing.point at AS220's Black Box, today, April 8th and 9th. Conceived and performed by Providence-based artist, Andy Russ, this multi-disciplinary work weaves together movement, sound, text, and image into an intimate, immersive audience experience that blurs the boundaries between dance, theatre, and performance art. Canadian Stage brings England's London Road to Toronto with North American premiere of 5-star musical documentary Written by Alecky Blythe and Tony Award-winning composer Adam Cork; directed by Jackie Maxwell at the Bluma Appel Theatre January 19 to February 9, 2014 Toronto, ON - Canadian Stage presents the North American premiere of London Road, the captivating 5-star hit from the UK created by playwright Alecky Blythe and set to music Tony Award-winning composer Adam Cork. Part musical, part documentary, the new Canadian production is directed by the Shaw Festival's artistic director Jackie Maxwell with music direction by Reza Jacobs. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast (Sean Arbuckle, Damien Atkins, Ben Carlson, Michelle Fisk, Deborah Hay, George Masswohl, Julain Molnar, Glynis Ranney, Fiona Reid, Steve Ross and Shawn Wright) London Road transforms the stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E) from January 19 to February 9, 2014.

Shuffles to Preset PETER PANtomime, 12/1

Shuffles, A Broadway Tap and Musical Theater School will be presenting its 6th year of PETER PANtomime on December 1st at 2:00 and 5:30 at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

The Media Theatre Presents THE VOCALIST CONTEST, Now thru 8/7

The Media Theatre's summer singing contests 'The Vocalist' and its Junior counterpart start up the week after July Fourth. Two warm and welcoming emcees will preside over the competition. FOX-TV's morning anchor Sue Serio returns for her fourth summer and local actress Micki Sharpe begins a new tradition as the emcee for its Junior portion. The contest was previously titled 'Delco Idol'. It will, for the third year, be sponsored by Iron Workers Bank of Media and Aston.

March 24-30 Named National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) addressed the United States Senate this week by making a Statement for the Record recognizing National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week. In his Statement, Senator Brown announced that "the Young Audiences organization was founded with a mission to promote arts-integrated education… In honor of its commendable work… through its 30 affiliates across the United States, I am pleased to recognize the week of March 24, 2013 as National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week."

Congresswoman Slaughter has introduced a Resolution to the House of Representatives designating this week, March 24-31, 2013 as National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Week. This week will honor the contributions Young Audiences Arts for Learning (YA) has made to schools nationwide through its arts-in-education programs and to encourage Americans to recognize the important contribution the arts make to society.

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) brings Neil Simon's comic masterpiece about show business, friendship and growing old, 'The Sunshine Boys' to Arizona audiences. David Ira Goldstein directs one of Neil Simon's most beloved and acclaimed plays in ATC's new production that will premiere in Tucson for three weeks of performances and continue to Phoenix for an additional three weeks. ATC's 'The Sunshine Boys' opens at the Temple of Music and Art, running from tonight, March 2, 2013 through March 23, 2013. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from March 28, 2013 through April 14, 2013.
