Soho Rep. and Ars Nova's FUTURITY Opens Tonight Off-Broadway

Soho Rep. and Ars Nova present the New York premiere of Cesar Alvarez's FUTURITY, opening tonight, October 20, and running through November 15, 2015. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, FUTURITY is a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. The production, which features 13 actor-musicians, is presented at the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.) and in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays.
Maxine Linehan Comes to Feinstein's/54 Below Tonight

Cabaret sensation Maxine Linehan will perform songs from her latest album, Beautiful Songs, at Broadway's supper club Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street, Cellar) at 9:30 p.m. tonight, October 17. Featuring a variety of music - from standards like 'Danny Boy' to original songs, including 'I Think Of You,' by Andrew Koss, the show encapsulates Linehan's versatility and marks her solo debut at the newly renamed Feinstein's/54 Below. The show is created and directed by Scott Siegel, who also directed Broadway by the Year at The Town Hall and has directed Michael Feinstein.

THE ELEPHANT IN EVERY ROOM I ENTER, the strikingly intimate solo work created by Gardiner Comfort and Kel Haney, in which Mr. Comfort shares the challenges of a working actor living with Tourette Syndrome, have announced a series of post-performance discussions with medical experts and Adults Living with Tourette's to follow select performances of the show. Performances begin tonight, Thursday, October 15th at La MaMa - First Floor Theatre (74a East 4th Street - between Bowery and 2nd Avenue) and continue through Saturday, October 31.

Tonight, October 9, noted orchestrator and conductor Fred Barton will bring the music of Broadway and the American Songbook to the Schimmel Center at Pace University, in American Showstoppers: An Evening of Johnny Mercer. In his seventh concert at Pace, Fred Barton now brings the power of Mercer's music and lyrics front and center, with a 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 16 Broadway singers and dancers, with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson. The cast is headlined by Damon Kirsch, Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams, two time Tony nominee Vivian Reed, Nick Spangler, Tony Nominee Lauren Worsham, and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba. Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), now through October 24. Opening Night is tonight, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to OASIS (298 Eleventh Street, San Francisco CA) on Saturday, December 12 at 7:00 PM after two packed shows earlier this year. The Meeting* has been called "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice. A story for Slate.com called the evening "so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight." The New York run of The Meeting* - currently running monthly at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater - has been sold out since the New York Times "Arts & Leisure" piece ran last September.
