Executive Director Anita Gaffney has been named one of Canada's Most Powerful Women and will be honoured tonight at the Women's Executive Network (WXN) awards ceremony in Toronto, where she will receive the Top 100 Award in the BMO Arts, Sports & Entertainment category.
Cookeville Performing Arts Center is currently showing Love, Loss and What I Wore as part of their Backstage Series. An intimate showing of an intimate show, the pairing goes well together. Love, Loss, and What I Wore, by Nora and Delia Ephron and based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, explores the emotional attachment that women make with clothing in their lives.
The 2nd Annual Hope Rising Benefit took plays this week at Roy Thomson Hall to benefit the Stephen Lewis AIDS Foundation, an organization that helps women and children with HIV/AIDS in Africa. Annie Lennox returned to Toronto for one night only to lend her gorgeous vocals to the cause, along with Canadian sensation Sarah McLachlan and African singer Angelique Kidjo. Hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, the very special evening was both heartbreaking and inspiring. BWW was on hand to capture photos from the event.
