CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. These CDs boast the best voices from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway and national tours. A full track list for this year's 14th edition has not yet been announced, but the cast of Broadway's THE LION KING was already hard a work recording their track for the album. On Saturday, May 19, 2012 Broadway Sings for Pride (www.BwayPride.org) in conjunction with the TADA! Youth Theater joined over twenty-five Broadway, Off Broadway, and National Tour performers to remind everyone 'it gets better.' The song, which included TADA!'s Resident Youth Ensemble, was done to promote equality and stop bullying. 'It Gets Better' was written in 2010 by composers, Jay Kuo & Blair Shepard after a string of LGBT suicides across the country. This song will be featured in Broadway Sings for Pride's Second Annual Gay Pride Concert on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Manhattan. For tickets and information, click here.
James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES closes tonight, June 9, at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre after a critically acclaimed run. Nominated for eight Tony Awards, the show has been through quite the journey, beginning at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center in May 2011, then making its transfer to Broadway's Marquis Theatre, where it opened in September of 2011 and ran through January 22, 2012, and finally traveling to L.A. for its May 9, 2012, opening. The new production of FOLLIES opened on Broadway on Monday night, September 12, 2011 to multiple rave reviews. Before the show, we were there for long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe, which is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, FOLLIES cast member Jennifer Foote received the Gypsy Robe and BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

Monday night marked the 300th performnce for the national tour of HAIR, now performing at Broadways St James Theatre. The Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR kicked of its first national tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on October 28, 2010 (following a preview engagement in New Haven, CT) and played 20 cities around the country before heading back to Broadway for a limited 'Summer of Love' run at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). New York's Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director) and Joey Parnes have announced that HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical will once again rock Broadway this evening, following a one-day shuttering this past Saturday due to Hurricane Irene. Tonight's 7:00 PM performance will also mark the national tour's 300th performance.
