BWW Reviews: Charming Production of DISNEY'S CINDERELLA By Stages St. Louis

Nearly everyone is familiar with the tale of CINDERELLA. You've either been read the story as a child, or perhaps viewed one of the many movie versions. It's just one of those things that seems to creep into our subconscious through osmosis. In fact, variations continue to pop up in books and films to this day. It's even become part of our language; the so-called 'Cinderella stories',which find people (often athletes) triumphing over adversity. The classic was brought to life in an animated feature with music (compositions by Mack David, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston) by Walt Disney in 1950, and it continues to enchant audiences as evidenced by the rapt attention the young crowd gave the current version being presented by Stages St. Louis.

BWW Reviews: St. Louis Actors' Studio's Fascinating Production of GOOD

Playwright C.P. Taylor's work, GOOD, is a piece of theater guaranteed to make the audience think. That's a good thing. Too often, things are so cut and dry that the viewer isn't really required to ponder what they've just seen, they simply digest it and move along. But, Good stays with you, and makes you wonder just what it would take to make a person conform their values and beliefs in an effort to get ahead, even if meant the attempted extermination of a whole race of people. The St. Louis Actors' Studio has put together a fascinating and engaging presentation that truly makes you ask this question. And, with current legislation in Germany being discussed that would outlaw circumcision, it's a timely work that makes you aware of the fact that those who don't learn from their own history may be doomed to repeat it.

BWW Reviews: Jeffrey Wright Delivers Solid Performance at the Kranzberg

After experiencing some initial success in the world of cabaret last year, Jeffrey Wright has returned to the Kranzberg Arts Center for a weekend of sold out performances. With the encouragement of mentors Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen, Wright has fashioned a show centered around the theme of 'The Dance', featuring an eclectic mix of standards, show tunes, classic rock and country. But, Wright breaks down these genre classifications by investing each song with the same sense of genuine warmth and sensitivity that characterizes his own personality.
