InViolet Theater Company's SOMMERFUGL Begins Next Month

InViolet Theater Company, under the direction of Founding Co-Artistic Directors Michael Henry Harris and Angela Razzano, In association with Melanie Maras, Bryan Tallevi and Andrea Kiefer have announced the off-off Broadway run of SOMMERFUGL, a new play written by Bixby Elliot inspired by the true story of Lili Elbe, the first person to have gender reassignment surgery in 1930. The production begins previews September 19 at the 4th Street Theater (83 East 4th Street) and will have its official opening on September 24. Stephen Brackett directs.  www.InViolettheater.com

Joe Iconis' New Musical BE MORE CHILL to Receive Cast Recording

Ghostlight Records will record the Original Cast Album of Be More Chill, the new musical which recently had its world premiere production at Two River Theater, Red Bank, NJ. Be More Chill has music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, book by Joe Tracz and is based on the novel by Ned Vizzini. The show was directed by Stephen Brackett with Chase Brock serving as choreographer. Also available on Ghostlight is the cast recording of Things To Ruin - The Songs of Joe Iconis and The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree. Cherry Lane Theatre to Launch Summer Education Series

Cherry Lane Theatre will present the first ever summer education series in the theatre's 90-year history, CHERRY LANE SCHOOL - a weeklong intensive offering interactive Master Classes with writers, actors, movement directors, social media experts, etc. - from June 22 to 26 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St. in Greenwich Village), it has been announced by Angelina Fiordellisi, the theatre's Founding Artistic Director.

Two River Theater to Premiere BE MORE CHILL

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, concludes its 2014/15 Season with Be More Chill, a new musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and book by Joe Tracz, based on the acclaimed 2004 novel by Ned Vizzini. The production is directed by Stephen Brackett, with orchestrations by Charlie Rosen, music direction by Nathan Dame, and choreography by Chase Brock. The production will run May 30-June 21, 2015, with the opening night on Friday, June 5. Tickets starting at $20 are available from 732.345.1400 or www.tworivertheater.org. La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its season opener, the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. A co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Come from Away will run May 29 - July 5 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre (press opening Thursday, June 11).

An accomplished dramaturg, literary manager and producer, Barron will oversee all artistic programming at SPACE on Ryder Farm - including its residency program and resident writers group,The Working Farm - and will spearhead new artistic projects and programs.
