Shortly after word started spreading through the internet tonight about the announced June 1st closing of the Broadway production of Rent, BroadwayWorld's News Editor, Eugene Lovendusky, started a thread on our Broadway message board asking readers to share their experiences of seeing Jonathan Larson's breakthrough achievement for the first time. I'll be checking in on that thread and enjoying the stories but first I'd like to share my first Rent experience here. If you know me personally you've probably heard this one before. I've told it a lot in the past 12 years

In The Heights officially opened on Sunday, March 9, 2008 on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater. With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, and conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights is directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler.
Anthony Rapp & Adam Pascal to Star in New 'Rent' Tour

Original Broadway cast members of Rent, Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp will reprise their roles in the show's upcoming national tour. The new tour is scheduled to begin in January 2009. The current tour of the show is playing through June 2008.

Anthony Rapp (Rent) and Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde) will head the cast of a one-night-only performance of The King Stag, written and directed by Jeremy Dobrish (adapted from the original Carlo Gozzi play) on Monday, March 24 with a 6PM reception and 7:30PM performance at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) to benefit Resonance Ensemble's 2008 season.

And they brought along all their Broadway-loving friends for another successful and entertaining Broadway Bears auction, presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS! To the thrill of bear and fan-boy alike, the 11th Annual event raised over $127,000! Top winners were 'Cyrano de Bergerac,' 'The Lion King' and 'Spamalot.'
