Spring has sprung, awards season has begun, and the latter is all that really matters to Broadway fans everywhere. Earlier this week, Katharine McPhee and Leslie Odom Jr. announced the 2018 Tony nominations, celebrating the best of the 2017-18 theatre season (and what a season it's been!). Leading the pack were Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical with 12 nominations, followed by Angels in America, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel andThe Band's Visit with 11 and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two with 10. In the past few weeks, we've watched the nominations roll in. Today the final crop of nominees have been revealed, all leading to next week's ultimate announcement- the 2018 Tony nominations.
Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, announced today (April 24, 2018) its nominees for the 2017-18 season. Broadway's "Come From Away" starJenn Colella along with "The Band's Visit" sensation Katrina Lenk presided over the (11AM) announcement ceremony in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street).

If, like this theatre reviewer, you've managed to survive the last twenty years without reading a word of J.K. Rowling's wildly popular series of Harry Potter novels, nor taking in a screening of any of the eight film adaptations, the most important thing to keep in mind about the Broadway transfer of the West End theatre sensation, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, is that the pair of plays making up the fantasy drama constitute a continuation of the saga and are not intended to stand on their own.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2018 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by Tony® Award winners Harriet Harris, Julie White and Tony® Award nominee Christopher Sieber at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online right here at BroadwayWorld.com.
New York Theatre Workshop held it's 2018 Annual Gala last night, April 15. The gala celebrated John Tiffany, the Tony Award-winning Director of Once, which had its world premiere at NYTW, as well as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; along with Barbara Cutler Emden, who is celebrating 25 years of arts advocacy and exceptional service on the NYTW Board of Trustees.

The National Theatre and the American Associates of the National Theatre hosted an exclusive fundraising gala to celebrate the arrival of the National Theatre's acclaimed production of Angels in America, A Gay Fantasia on National Themes on Broadway on Sunday, March 11.
This just in! Today, at 8PM, Harry Potter AND THE CURSED CHILD will release 1,200 tickets to the first performances of Part One (March 16 at 8PM) and Part Two (March 17 at 8PM) to the first fans in line at the Lyric Theatre Box Office! All tickets released at the Box Office today will be priced at just $20 per Part, and each person can buy a maximum of two tickets.
Beginning Friday, March 9, 2018, every Friday at 1:00 PM ET the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will release 40 tickets for every performance the following week for some of the very best seats in the theatre at $40 ($20 per part).
