Semele by George Frideric Handel will be presented by the Canadian Opera Company at BAM's Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Ave), conducted by Christopher Moulds and directed by Zhang Huan on March 4, 6 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and March 8 at 3 p.m.
This exhibition focuses on the printed propaganda that either reviled or glorified Napoleon Bonaparte at the turn of the 19th century. It explores how his formidable career coincided with the peak of political satire as an art form on both sides of the English Channel. 2015 marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo – the final undoing of the brilliant French general and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821).

Production will begin March 30 on the eight-episode CINEMAX drama series QUARRY, it was announced by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Based on the novels of Max Allan Collins, the show will be directed and executive produced by Greg Yaitanes (CINEMAX's Emmy-winning “Banshee”; Emmy winner for directing “House, M.D.”), along with executive producer Steve Golin (HBO's Emmy-nominated “True Detective”). Florida Grand Opera (FGO) announces today that the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, in an effort to keep opera in Ft. Lauderdale, has agreed to allow FGO to extend the deadline of when it must confirm the use of 2015–16 dates. FGO must now inform the center that the opera will be using the reserved dates for FGO's 2015-16 productions, Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia and Bellini's Norma, by February 14, 2015.
New York, NY…Hauser & Wirth is pleased to present 'Seven Billion Light Years', an exhibition of sculptures, installations, film, and new paintings by Subodh Gupta. Spanning the New Delhi-based artist's career to the present day, the exhibition emphasizes Gupta's distinctive use of commonplace objects in his ongoing campaign to map the effects of cultural dislocation in our era of shifting powers. In particular, Gupta captures the everyday realities of life in India – its nearly surreal collisions between the inescapably earthy and the ineffably divine, between the current of masses and the path of private days - through works of art that address dichotomies between traditional values and the impact of globalization.

They include Dominick Argento, Donald Grantham, Matthew Harris, Morten Lauridsen, Elizabeth Lim, Ben Moore, and Ronald Perera. Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) presents This Is Modern Art (based on true events) written by acclaimed playwright and hip-hop artist Idris Goodwin (Blackademics, How We Got On) and 'Louder Than A Bomb' founder Kevin Coval. Directed by Lisa Portes, this world premiere production concludes SYA's 2014/15 season, which explores the theme, 'Create a Movement: The Art of Revolution.'

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) continues the Ignite! Festival of New Plays. Taking place in March, the festival will include commissions of nationally recognized playwrights, culminating with three public readings including This Thing of Ours by Caridad Svich and directed by Emily Mendelsohn; The Full Catastrophe by Michael Weller, based on the novel by David Carkeet and directed by Seth Gordon; and Molly's Hammer by Tammy Ryan, based on the book Hammer of Justice by Liane Ellison Norman and directed by Seth Gordon. The festival productions will take place in the Sally S. Levy Opera Center, located at 210 Hazel Avenue, directly behind the Loretto-Hilton Center.
