Damian Baldet, Cindy Cheung & More to Lead The Civilians' THE GREAT IMMENSITY at Public Theater; Full Cast Announced

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the New York premiere of The Civilian's THE GREAT IMMENSITY. Written and directed by Steven Cosson with songs by Michael Friedman, THE GREAT IMMENSITY is a highly theatrical look into one of the most vital questions of our time: how can we change ourselves and our society in time to solve the enormous environmental challenges that confront us? Previews begin on Friday, April 11 and the show will run through Thursday, May 1 in the Martinson Theater, with an official press opening on Thursday, April 24.

Cherry Lane's Mentor Project Continues Tonight with SONNETS ON TAP

Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT for emerging playwrights continues its 16th season tonight, March 12 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St. in Greenwich Village) with SONNETS ON TAP - an evening of Shakespeare sonnets performed to tap dancing - conceived and directed by Awoye Timpo. Mentored by Lisa Peterson, SONNETS ON TAP marks the very first Mentor Project directing mentorship.

PEN World Voices International Play Festival and More Set for Martin E. Segal Theatre Center's Spring 2014 Season

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at the CUNY Graduate Center has announced its SPRING 2014 season of public programs. The season includes the Center's inaugural PEN World Voices International Play Festival, featuring 9 free readings of plays from around the globe, including HAITI, JAPAN, TUNISIA, CHILE, POLAND, AUSTRALIA, SINGAPORE, AUSTRIA and INDIA. The season also features 11 free public programs throughout the spring, featuring contemporary theatre and performing artists from around the world.

Bill Irwin & David Shiner to Star in OLD HATS at A.C.T.

16 years after they swept San Francisco Bay Area audiences off their feet with the Tony Award-winning production Fool Moon, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) welcomes back Tony Award winners Bill Irwin and David Shiner in the West Coast premiere of the Signature Theatre production of Old Hats. Using music, technology and movement - plus a few other tricks up their sleeves - Old Hats combines the inimitable magic, slapstick and hilarity of Irwin and Shiner into a wild and remarkable outing of theatre for generations old and new. Directed by Tina Landau, Old Hats was the recipient of the 2013 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Alternative Theatrical Experience and the 2013 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revue. Old Hats marks the first collaboration for Irwin and Shiner since the smash Broadway hit Fool Moon, which set A.C.T. box office records during its sold-out 1998 run and their return engagement in 2001. At this time, tickets to Old Hats are available only to subscribers of A.C.T.'s 2014-15 season.

David Hyde Pierce & Mary Testa to Host Playwrights Horizons' Annual Gala Honoring Bob Moss this May

The evening will be co-hosted by two of the company's alumni actors: two-time Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce (at PH in Richard Greenberg's The Maderati in 1987) and two-time Tony Award nominee, two-time Obie Award winner and 2012 Special Drama Desk Award winner Mary Testa (at PH in William Finn's In Trousers in 1979, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Lucky Stiff in 1988, Tom Donaghy's From Above in 1998/Obie Award and Kathleen Tolan's The Wax in 2000).

Jessica Hecht, Dominic Fumusa and More Star in STAGE KISS at Playwrights Horizons; Previews Begin Tonight

Playwrights Horizons presents the New York premiere production of STAGE KISS, a new play marking the eagerly-awaited return of two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl (Dead Man's Cell Phone at PH; The Clean House, In the Next Room...) to the theater company. Directed by Rebecca Taichman (Milk Like Sugar at PH; the current Marie Antoinette, Orlando, The Scene, Luck of the Irish), the production begins previews this evening, February 7 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Sunday, March 2 at 7PM. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, March 23 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Asolo Rep to Present 'THICKER THAN WATER: Exploring the American Family', 3/3

'Thicker Than Water: Exploring the American Family,' a special interactive evening of live theatre and discussion, will explore these questions as well as the second season of Asolo Rep's American Character Project. The one-night-only event will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 7pm in Asolo Rep's Cook Theatre, located at 5555 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34243.

MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY & INDIAN INK & More Set for A.C.T.'s 2014-15 Season

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today four of the seven productions that will comprise the lineup of the company's 48th subscription season, including two of the most acclaimed new works of the last year, a remounting of one of A.C.T.'s biggest hits in an all-new production, as well as a sumptuous production of one of Stephen Sondheim's most rapturous and seductive musicals. In addition, the 2014-15 season will include the inaugural production at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Strand Theater, located in the revitalized Central Market Street Corridor. The additional three productions for the 2014-15 season, as well as the complete show order and performance schedule, will be announced at a later date.

Labyrinth Theater to Premiere Stephen Belber's THE MUSCLES IN OUR TOES in Spring 2014

Labyrinth Theater Company, the award-winning, downtown ensemble, announced today the New York Premiere of The Muscles in Our Toes by Labyrinth Company Member Stephen Belber, and directed by Anne Kauffman. The play will be produced in late Spring 2014 at Labyrinth's home in New York City's West Village, the Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street).
