Chicago Slam Works (CSW) has announced its 2012-13 season packed with innovative collaborations and dynamic performances at a new location, Raven Theatre, 6157 N. Clark St. The season, directed by Artistic Director J.W. Basilo, features poets and storytellers facing off in 'Two Sides', October 10, 17 and 24, 2012, deceased poets challenging the living in 'Dead or Alive' December 5, 12 and 19, 2012, dancers and poets collaborate for 'In Motion', March 13, 20 and 27, 2013 and the season concludes when top German poets join Chicago poets in 'In Any Tongue', August 2 and 3, 2013. Soprano Emalie Savoy will join the New York Philharmonic's performance of selections from Falla's Atlantida, led by Spanish conductor Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, tonight, May 31, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 1, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 2, at 8:00 p.m. The program also includes Orff's Carmina burana. As previously announced, the singers that Mr. Fru?hbeck has assembled for these performances also include American soprano Erin Morley, American tenor Nicholas Phan (in his Philharmonic debut), South- African baritone Jacques Imbrailo (debut), the Spanish chorus Orpheon Pamplones directed by Igor Ijurra Fernandez, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus directed by Dianne Berkun.

Actress Salome Jens is an actor's actor. She considers acting a pure art form and is ever respectful of every single role she plays. From films like Angel Baby to Mae Olinski in TV's Mary Hartman Mary Hartman to her one-woman play About Anne, her work is passionate, thoughtful and evocative. She will be performing About Anne @ Group rep in NoHo November 19 and 20 as a benefit for the theatre. In our chat recently conducted on the stage of Group rep, she talks about the roots of About Anne (poet Anne Sexton, who struggled her entire short life with mental illness and committed suicide) and other theatrical passions.
