The completely original new musical comedy Something Rotten!, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O'Farrell, opened last night, April 22 at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) on Broadway. New Art Murals Celebrating 60th Anniversary of Obie Awards Unveiled

Acclaimed street artist Bradley Theodore has painted two original murals in downtown Manhattan celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the OBIE Awards, Off Broadway's Highest Honor. Presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice, the 2015 OBIE Awards will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). Tickets to the ceremony are now available via www.ObieAwards.com.

Metropolitan Museum to Display Costume Institute's Spring 2015 Exhibition, 5/7

The Costume Institute's spring 2015 exhibition, China: Through the Looking Glass, will be on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 7 through August 16, 2015 (preceded on May 4 by The Costume Institute Benefit). Presented in the Museum's Chinese Galleries and Anna Wintour Costume Center, the exhibition will explore the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries. In this collaboration between The Costume Institute and the Department of Asian Art, high fashion will be juxtaposed with Chinese costumes, paintings, porcelains, and other art, including films, to reveal enchanting reflections of Chinese imagery.

Ken Downing to Lead 'DESIGNER AS DRAMATIST' Discussion with Zac Posen at The Wallis, 4/20

Wallis Center for the Performing Arts ("The Wallis") and Neiman Marcus present Ken Downing, Senior Vice President, Fashion Director at Neiman Marcus, leading a discussion titled Designer As Dramatist -- The Intersection Of Fashion And Theater with special guest, fashion designer Zac Posen. Ken will also welcome mother-daughter supermodels Pat and Anna Cleveland and designer Christian Siriano. This inside look into the world of fashion and a lively conversation led by Ken is sponsored by Neiman Marcus and is the final presentation of The Wallis' Arts & Ideas 2014-2015 series. This event is on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Bram Goldsmith Theater.

The Met Museum Celebrates Asian Art With 19 Exhibitions

2015 marks the centennial of the Metropolitan Museum's Department of Asian Art. In the Year of the Ram, which officially began during Lunar New Year in February 2015, the department will present 19 exhibitions and installations organized for a one-year celebration of its formidable holdings of art from across Asia. The department today oversees more than 50 galleries and one of the most comprehensive collections of Asian art anywhere in the world.

David Chipperfield Architects to Redesign Metropolitan Museum's Modern and Contemporary Art Wing and Adjacent Areas

Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that David Chipperfield Architects (DCA) has been selected to develop a new design for the Southwest Wing for modern and contemporary art, and potentially for adjacent galleries for the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, as well as additional operational spaces. The announcement followed a year-long research and selection process led by a committee of the Museum's Board of Trustees. The committee's recommendation was approved by a vote of the full Board on March 10.

Today, The Metropolitan Museum of Art held a press briefing at the Palace Museum in Beijing, China, about its spring 2015 Costume Institute exhibition, China: Through the Looking Glass. The exhibition, on view at the Met from May 7 to August 16, will explore how Chinese art and film have influenced Western fashion design for centuries. Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of the Metropolitan Museum; Shan Jixiang, Director of the Palace Museum; Max Baucus, U.S. Ambassador to the People's Republic of China; Andrew Bolton, Curator in The Costume Institute; Maxwell K. Hearn, Douglas Dillon Chairman, Department of Asian Art; Anna Wintour, Artistic Director of Condé Nast and Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue; and renowned filmmaker Wong Kar Wai, Artistic Director of the exhibition, all attended the press briefing.
