The Welders-Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new plays-are thrilled to announce the selection of Laley Lippard as their new Creative Producer. Laley makes a homecoming to Washington, D.C. with her new role. She is a nationally recognized director, producer, and advocate for inclusion in the arts who leads with a spirit of inquiry and innovation. Laley will guide the administrative and creative process of individual Welders while advancing the organization's mission to be an alternative model for new play production.

With the original run completely sold out, Steep Theatre Company is adding sixteen more performances of Simon Stephens' Birdland. Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces an exciting new matching gift campaign to help make the Steppenwolf experience accessible for people with disabilities (as well as their friends and families) with a gift to Steppenwolf's Art Access campaign. Art Access is a one week campaign to raise funds for Steppenwolf's accessibility services. All gifts between April 9-16 will be matched up to $10,000 by Skadden. Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright Tracy Letts ("August: Osage County") brings his insightful new comedy to the Mark Taper Forum. Directed by Dexter Bullard, the Steppenwolf production of "Linda Vista" will be produced by Center Theatre Group at the Mark Taper Forum January 9 through February 17, 2019. The opening is set for January 16.
