Kip Winger Celebrates the Life of Choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky Debut Classical Album

Conversations With Nijinsky, a four-movement musical tribute to the artistry and life of Nijinsky is the centerpiece of Kip Winger's debut album as a classical composer. Performed by the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra with Martin West conducting, and recorded by GRAMMY®-winning recording engineer Leslie Ann Jones, Winger's world-premiere recording declares loudly and clearly that, while he may be the front man of the rock band Winger, he is a force to be reckoned with as a classical composer.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus To Perform For United States Navy's Naming Ceremony Honoring Harvey Milk

The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) and Dr. Timothy Seelig, SFGMC Artistic Director, announced today that the Chorus will perform the National Anthem at the celebrated USNS Harvey Milk Naming Ceremony on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:00PM, held by the United States Navy. The event will take place on Treasure Island at the Great Lawn in San Francisco, CA. 

THE SOULD OF PLACE by Linda Lappin Wins Gold Medal in the 2015 Nautilus Book Awards

The Soul of Place-A Creative Writing Workbook: Ideas and Exercises for Conjuring the Genius Loci (Travelers' Tales, 2015), authored by novelist and travel writer, Linda Lappin, has been awarded with a gold medal in the 2015 Nautilus Book Awards. The Nautilus Book Awards program rewards and promotes world-changing books that inspire and connect our lives as individuals, communities, and global citizens. The core mission as stated on the Nautilus Book Awards website is to celebrate and honor books that support conscious living, green values, high-level wellness, and spiritual growth. Awards are given in 24 categories in children and adult titles. Previous winners include Julia Cameron, Betty Edwards, Deepak Chopra, Catherine Ann Jones, Andrew Weil, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

LOVE LIFE Preview Concert at Old First Church Set for Today

A preview concert for Love Life, the sophomore album for soprano Ann Moss and friends, will be held tonight, July 17, 2015 at 8:00pm at Old First Church (1751 Sacramento Street, San Francisco, CA 94109). The concert will feature songs and song cycles included on Love Life by composers Jake Heggie and Liam Wade, as well as a sneak preview of a new song cycle by composer John Grimmett. Joining Moss in performance will be pianist Steven Bailey, cellist Emil Miland, violinist Mads Tolling, and composer­pianist Jake Heggie.

Players Theatre Short Play & Musical Festival Now Running Through 10/26

It's that time of year when we all start to thirst for spooky tale or a good blood-curdling scream. The Players Theatre Short Play and Musical Festival encourage playwrights to dig into their dark crevices by offering an annual horror-themed festival each October. Celebrating its 4th year, "Boo!" runs through October 26 for three weeks. Each week four original short plays, by four separate playwrights will be presented and a "Best of the Week" production will be selected by judge and audience vote.

LOVE IS..., HELLO, YELLOW BRICK ROAD and More Highlight Season 37 at San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus

Today, San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) Artistic Director, Dr. Timothy Seelig, announced the lineup for their 37th season, Journey. Featuring three seasonal concerts with the 250 men of the chorus, Journey includes the festive seasonal show Home For the Holidays at the Nourse Theater on December 12 and 13, 2014; a fearless performance of new commissioned works in Love is... at Davies Symphony Hall on April 1 and 2, 2015; and a celebration of the fabulous music of Sir Elton John in Hello, Yellow Brick Road at Nourse Theatre, June 24 - 26, 2015. Beginning with the annual kick-off preview event, Crescendo at the Four Seasons Hotel on Sunday, September 28, the new season will also commemorate the 25th anniversary performance of Home for the Holidays at the Castro Theatre with three performances on December 24, 2014. In addition, SFGMC will take their legendary holiday performance to Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa on December 6 and Peace United Church of Christ in Santa Cruz on December 7.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus to Open 37th Season with Annual CRESCENDO Event, 9/28

The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) announced Crescendo, the annual season preview event that kicks-off the 37th season, on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 12 - 3 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel (757 Market Street, San Francisco). The Sunday brunch includes a preview of selections from the upcoming season, which will feature concerts that provide a musical journey that is equal parts festive, fearless and fabulous! With proceeds benefiting SFGMC, Crescendo includes a silent and live auction and an awards ceremony that will pay tribute to Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz, GRAMMY winner Leslie Ann Jones and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus Wins Soundtrack Category for I AM HARVEY MILK at 2014 Independent Music Awards

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) named winner for "I Am Harvey Milk" in the Soundtrack / Cast Recording Album category at the 13th Independent Music Awards (The IMAs). "I Am Harvey Milk" is an emotional celebration of an American icon. Part choral work, part theater piece, it weaves the story of Harvey Milk's life -- from boyhood to his rise as the first openly gay man to hold public office in California and to his untimely assassination.
