Eric McCormack Signs on for TNT's Pilot 'Perception'

Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Who Is Clark Rockefeller?) has signed up to play the lead role in TNT's PERCEPTION (working title), a dramatic pilot from executive producer Kenneth Biller (Smallville, Legend of the Seeker) and co-executive producer Mike Sussman (Star Trek: Voyager). This marks McCormack's third project with TNT after previously starring in the 2009 series Trust Me and co-producing the 2007 pilot Imperfect Union. He will also act as a producer on PERCEPTION.

TNT Orders New Seasons of 'The Closer,' 'Rizzoli,' 'Isles'

TNT has ordered new seasons of three of the network's hit series. The Closer, which continues to rank as ad-supported cable's #1 series of all time, will return for its seventh season. Rizzoli & Isles, which currently ranks as cable's #1 new series for the year-to-date, will return for a second season. Leverage, which is performing exceptionally well in its new Sunday timeslot, will be back for a fourth season. TNT has ordered 15 episodes each of The Closer and Leverage, along with 13 episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, with all three slated to start their new seasons in 2011.

TNT is going to give fans the very first look at the eagerly anticipated new series FALLING SKIES, from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, starring Noah Wyle. The gripping drama series, slated to premiere in summer 2011, envisions a world where aliens have invaded, and the fate of humanity lies in the hands of a few survivors. Series stars Wyle (ER, TNT's The Librarian movies) and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) will join co-executive producer and writer Mark Verheiden (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica) at Comic-Con for a Q&A panel session scheduled to take place Friday, July 23, from 4:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. (PT) in Room 6A. TNT's hit television series Men of a Certain Age, starring Emmy(R) winner Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond), Emmy winner Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street, TNT's Salem's Lot) and Golden Globe(R) winner Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) will make its DVD debut Nov. 2 with the release of Men of a Certain Age Season 1. The release of the DVD will be followed by the premiere of the second season of Men of a Certain Age on Nov. 29 on TNT.
TNT's 'Rizzoli & Isles' is Cable's #1 Commercial-Supported Series Launch of All Time

Monday night's premiere of TNT's new original series Rizzoli & Isles now claims the record as cable's #1 commercial-supported series launch of all time, with 7.6 million viewers. The series, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, raced out of the starting gate after an equally strong performance for the sixth-season premiere of The Closer, which delivered 7.7 million viewers, up 7% over its fifth-season premiere on June 8, 2009. Both premieres also rank as ad-supported cable's top series telecasts for the year-to-date among viewers and households.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that reps for TNT have squashed rumors that they may be picking up a 21st season of 'Law & Order.' After announcing its cancellation from NBC a few weeks rumors began to swirl that the show might be picked up by cable network, TNT, which already airs re-runs of the 20 season show. 'Law & Order' creator, Dick Wolf was interested in airing the show's 21st season on TNT, thereby setting the record for the longest-running television series ('Law and Order' is currerntly tied with 'Gunsmoke.')

After announcing its cancellation last week, NBC's 'Law & Order' might be picked up by cable network, TNT, according to Deadline.com. TNT already airs re-runs of the 20 season show. According to the report, 'Law & Order' creator, Dick Wolf plans to air the show's 21st season on TNT.
