Open auditions for the new, off-Broadway production of RENT are taking place today in NYC on Friday, March 18 from 11am to 2pm. Hundreds of members of a new generation of talent began lining up outside of New World Stages last night for a chance to star in this ground-breaking production of this iconic musical. Producers Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum and Allan S. Gordon announced last week that the landmark musical Rent will open in a new, off-Broadway production on Thursday, August 11 at New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street, Between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Previews begin Thursday, July 14.

Casting for this production begins immediately with open calls in New York on Friday, March 18, 11am - 2pm, at New World Stages, and in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 30, 1:30pm - 4:00pm at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, 6817 Franklin Avenue. 'I Fioretti in Musica-Opera in Danza' (Little Flowers in Music, an Opera in Dance) is an original opera with concept, libretto, direction and sets by Gian Marco Lo Forte and an acoustic score for five voices composed by Sasha Zamler-Carhart juxtaposed with an electronic score consisting of fixed electro-acoustic sound and live vocal processing by Ryan Carter.
