The 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents SEARCHING FOR ROMEO, a new musical with a retro-pop score, featuring Book, Music and Lyrics by Brian Sutton. Directed by Laura Josepher with a cast including Zal Owen ("Fiddler on the Roof"), Natalie Newman ("Grease"), and Justine Magnusson ("Whistle Down the Wind"), the world premiere will be presented as an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival at the PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street, New York, NY) for a limited five performances on: Tuesday, July 8 at 8:00pm; Thursday, July 10 at 5:00pm; Friday, July 11 at 9:00pm; Saturday, July 12 at 5:00pm; and Sunday, July 13 at 12:00pm. Set in 1954, DEAR ALBERT EINSTEIN tells the story of Susan, a 12-year-old star math student who, when starting junior high, struggles between the desire to be herself and the pressure to be like all of the other girls in her class. Her admiration for Einstein, who periodically pops up in her imagination, complicates and eventually helps her along her journey. The musical combines early rock-n-roll, swing, and classical music.
