Metropolitan Opera's Ten-Day Summer HD Festival Returns to LCP

The Met's popular free Summer HD Festival returns for the third year beginning on Saturday, August 27 in Lincoln Center Plaza with Donizetti's Don Pasquale starring Anna Netrebko, conducted by Maestro James Levine.

Francesca Zambello Appointed Artistic Advisor of WNO

Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced that American director Francesca Zambello has been appointed the company's Artistic Advisor. Simultaneously, Chief Operating Officer Michael L. Mael has been named Executive Director. With these appointments, WNO enters into its affiliation with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (effective July 1, 2011) with a complete roster of artistic and administrative executives.

Gheorghiu Withdraws from FAUST at the Met; McAnuff Responds

Although Angela Gheorghiu was set to star in the production, she withdrew due to what her management calls 'artistic reasons' - in this version of the classic, the setting will be modern, taking place in the 20th century as opposed to the usual staging of the 16th century. This shift is being cited as Gheorghiu's reason for leaving the production.

New PAL JOEY Featured in Kennedy Center's 2011-12 Season
