On Sunday, May 20 and Monday, May 21, 2012 at 8pm American Opera Projects (AOP) will present COMPOSERS & THE VOICE: FIRST GLIMPSE 2012, the first public presentation of compositions developed during this season's Composers & the Voice program. Audiences will hear songs written by five emerging composers - Sidney Marquez Boquiren, Mikael Karlsson, Robert Paterson, Rachel Peters, and Ronnie Reshef - and one composer/librettist team, Zach Redler and Sara Cooper, who were chosen by AOP to spend a year creating new works focusing on the operatic voice. The performances will be held at South Oxford Space in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, the home of AOP. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for students/seniors and are available at www.operaprojects.org.

Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced an additional extension of its New York premiere production of THE BIG MEAL, a new play by Dan LeFranc. Originally set to play a limited engagement through Sunday, April 8, the production initially extended two weeks to Sunday, April 22. Playwrights Horizons has just announced complete casting for the World Premiere of RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Gina Gionfriddo (Becky Shaw). The League of American Orchestras today announced the 2012 Orchestra Management Fellows. Agnieszka (Eska) Laskus and Agnieszka Rakhmatullaev, this year's Fellows, will spend one full year in the League's intensive management training program, designed to launch executive careers in orchestra management. Since its inception in 1980, the highly competitive Orchestra Management Fellowship Program has graduated approximately 175 fellows, many of whom hold leadership positions in America's leading orchestras. The program was redesigned in 2011 to train administrators who have direct managerial experience and demonstrated potential to lead a professional orchestra within five to ten years.
