THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS to Return to Public Theater in January

Due to extraordinary demand, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced today that Mike Daisey's critically acclaimed THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS will return in January for an additional five week run in the Martinson Theater. Created and performed by Mike Daisey and directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS began previews at The Public on October 11, officially opened on October 17, and was originally scheduled to close on November 13. It was extended an additional three weeks to December 4. The return engagement will run January 31 to March 4, 2012. Tickets, priced at $75-$85, are on sale now. Richard Fleeshman, Caissie Levy, Bryce Pinkham & Da'Vine Joy Randolph to Star in GHOST THE MUSICAL on Broadway

The producers of Ghost The Musical announced today that Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy will reprise their starring roles as Sam and Molly, which they originated in London's hit West End production, when it premieres this Spring at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). They will be joined by Bryce Pinkham as Carl Bruner and newcomer Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Oda Mae Brown. Preview performances will begin on Thursday, March 15, 2012. Opening night is confirmed for Monday, April 23, 2012.

TITUS ANDRONICUS Begins Previews Tomorrow at the Public Theater

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will present post-show discussions following select performances of the Public Lab production, TITUS ANDRONICUS, directed by Michael Sexton. The Public Lab Thursday Night Speaker Series for TITUS ANDRONICUS will be held following the Thursday, December 8 and Thursday, December 15 performances and consist of engaging conversations with notable panelists. Tickets are $15 for all performances and include free admission to the post-show discussions. TITUS ANDRONICUS begins previews on Tuesday, November 29 and runs through Sunday, December 18.

Scott Shepherd to Lead GATZ at Public Theater; John Collins to Direct

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) announced today that GATZ, the critically lauded theatrical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, will return to The Public Theater this spring for a limited seven-week engagement. Created by Elevator Repair Service, this award-winning theatrical event, directed by John Collins and featuring Scott Shepherd as Nick, will begin previews on Wednesday, March 14 and run through Sunday, May 6 for 28 performances only in the Newman Theater. Member tickets go on sale on Monday, November 21 with single tickets on sale in early January.

As BroadwayWorld reported this yesterday, Sylvester Stallone was out signing autographs when he arrived for a press conference to announce the new musical ROCKY in Hamburg, Germany. Today, we report that the production will open at the Operettenhaus in Hamburg Germany in November, 2012. As previously speculated, the production is aiming for Broadway in 2013. Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and Stephen Hoggett (American Idiot) will direct and choreograph, respectively. The musical features a book by Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and songs by Tony Award-winning team Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (composer) - the creators of Ragtime, The Glorious Ones, and Once on This Island.

This dynamic evening, hosted by Anne Hathaway and in association with the Aspen Institute Arts Program, will feature noted author and New York Times columnist David Brooks; Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell, the Dean of the Tisch School of the Arts and the Vice-Chair of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities; Bill Irwin, acclaimed actor currently playing The Fool in The Public's production of King Lear; and Damian Woetzel, former principal dancer at New York City Ballet and the new Director of the Aspen Institute Arts Program.
