Lehman Center for the Performing Arts continues its 31st season with the return of legendary salsa pioneers LA SONORA PONCEÑA on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 8pm. With over 40 albums, La Sonora Ponceña has entertained audiences for nearly 60 years. Led by founder Enrique "Quique" Lucca and his son, piano virtuoso "Papo" Lucca, the group is known for such classic hits as "Hachero pa' un palo" and "Fuego en el 23." Enrique "Quique" Lucca recently celebrated his 99th birthday. Also appearing at this concert will be a band that burst onto the Latin music scene, 8 Y MAS, a collaboration of the musicians who have taken salsa back to its original flavor as they play "La musica de ayer, con el sonido de hoy" (yesterday's music with today's sound).

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, in association with Sal Abbatiello of Fever Records, continues its 31st season with a celebration of 25 years of Freestyle music -- FOREVER FREESTYLE 6 -- on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 8pm. To Latino teenagers in the late '80s and early '90s, Freestyle, a hybrid of Hip Hop and disco, was known simply as 'Our Music.' This year's concert will feature Freestyle artists STEVIE B, CORINA, SAFIRE, CYNTHIA, NOEL, NAYOBE, CORO, FASCINATION, STRAFE and THE VARGAS BROTHERS. The concert will also feature DJ LUCHO and will be hosted by SPEEDY and SAL ABBATIELLO.

Following the success of the acclaimed premiere of Taylor Mac's THE WALK ACROSS AMERICAN FOR MOTHER EARTH last season, La MaMa in association with the Obie Award-winning theatre company The Talking Band will present Sidney Goldfarb's play HOT LUNCH APOSTLES at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.), with preview performances starting Thursday, March 1 prior to an official press opening set for Thursday, March 8.
