In celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of Broadway's landmark musical event The Lion King, cast members Alton Fitzgerald White, Chondra La-Tease Profit and Lindiwe Dlamini 'flipped the switch' and lit the world-famous Empire State Building's tower lights with the signature color of the production. Now in its 12th record-breaking year, The Lion King has been seen by almost 10 million people in the UK and 60 million people worldwide, making it one of the most successful productions in theatre history.

Bajo el lema 'El Musical Que Conmueve Al Mundo' se ha presentado esta mañana El Rey León, uno de los espectáculos de mayor éxito de los últimos tiempos en Broadway y en el West End, que se estrenará oficialmente el 21 de octubre en el Teatro Lope De Vega de la Gran Vía madrileña. Aunque aún quedan meses por delante y todavía no han finalizado los castings, Stage Entertainment ha querido presentar ya el proyecto a los medios, coincidiendo con la puesta a la venta de las entradas, incluyendo dos de los temas del musical interpretados por Brown Lindiwe Mkhize (Rafiki en la producción de Londres), que ha interpretado 'Circle Of Life', en inglés, y por Andile Gumbi (Simba en la producción de Londres) y Jessica Mears (Nala en la producción de Hamburgo), que han cantado a dúo en castellano 'Es la Noche del Amor'.

After New York, Las Vegas, West End, Hamburg, Tokyo and Singapore, THE LION KING will officially open at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Madrid on October 21st, 2011 in its first Spanish production. It will be produced by Disney Theatricals and Stage Entertainment. Today, March 2, Thomas Schumacher and Julia Gómez Cora presented the project to the press at Teatro Real in Madrid and BroadwayWorld was was on hand for a performance preview.
