Adventure Stage Chicago Sets 2016-17 Season

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), a Northwestern Settlement (the Settlement) program, announces its 2016 - 2017 season. Kicking off its thirteenth season, ASC continues its commitment to new work and original storytelling in the spirit of service and community-building.

NJPAC and THE JOHNNY MERCER FOUNDATION Introduce NJ Students to Musical Theater

Celebrating their fourth year of introducing New Jersey middle school students to the magic of musical theater, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) announced that three new schools and two new teaching artists have joined this year's program.

Strawdog Theatre Company Presents Lauren Yee's IN A WORD This Winter

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland are proud to announce the third main stage production in its 2015 - 2016 season, Lauren Yee's In A Word, February 5 - March 19, directed by Jess McLeod, at Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway St. Previews are Friday, Feb. 5 and 12, Saturday, Feb. 6 and 13 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7 and 14 at 4 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Monday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. An industry performance is Monday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. and a fully accessible performance in conjunction with the Access Project at Victory Gardens is Thursday, March 3 at 8 p.m.* Preview tickets are $15, regular run tickets are $28 and on sale now. FWD Theatre Project to Launch Season 2

When FWD Theatre Project introduced itself in 2014 (at City Winery Chicago,) audiences, actors, producers, and critics took notice. Something special had arrived for the city's arts community and for the future of musical theatre in Chicago. A group of seasoned theatre professionals combined to create a Festival of Works in Development, part of an effort to build Chicago into a premiere destination for writers and creators to showcase their new musicals in process. One year later and FWD's inaugural season of five staged readings - selected from the world's best projects on offer - was a success, selling out many of its events at a variety of Chicago venues.

Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project Returns to Northwestern

The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) and the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will present the 11th Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project. The weeklong songwriting workshop for emerging songwriters and writing teams will take place from June 19 through 25, on Northwestern's Evanston campus.

The American Music Theatre Project and FWD to Present Workshop and Concert Reading of LA REVOLUTION FRANCAISE, September

In partnership with American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University, FWD will present the first musical written by one of the world's most prolific, important, and celebrated creative teams in history. Pre-dating Les Miserables, LA REVOLUTION FRANÇAISE was conceived as a concert rock opera and played to packed stadiums across Europe. Rebuilt to a full book musical, Chicago will host the show's premiere public staged reading with a huge company under the expert leadership of AMTP Artistic Director, David H. Bell. This premiere collaboration event will create enormous demand and the writers will join us FWD for their workshop and performances. Stay tuned for more information and to play a part in the launch of what promises to be a blockbuster new musical.

10th Anniversary Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project Set for Northwestern

The American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University and The Johnny Mercer Foundation will celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project with 15 emerging professional songwriters from across the country, three award-winning master teachers and Mercer Songwriters Project alumni guests.

Goodspeed's New Musical THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY Begins Tonight

Porchlight's 2015 ICONS Gala to Tribute Elaine Stritch This Spring

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the 2015 ICONS Gala will celebrate the legendary career of Elaine Stritch, Sunday, April 12, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Grand Ballroom, InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, 505 N. Michigan Ave. The Gala will include performances from Chicago's leading divas in a tribute to one of Broadway's leading divas, Ms. Stritch, the presentation of the 2015 Guy Adkins Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Music Theatre in Chicago to director and teacher Dominic Missimi, and silent and live auctions. The fundraising gala will kick off Porchlight's 21st Anniversary of creating 'American Musicals. Chicago Style.' Proceeds from the event and its accompanying auction benefit Porchlight's educational programs and productions.

American Music Theatre Project to Host SCROOGE IN LOVE! Workshop, 11/23
