The Alchemy Theatre, in association with LAByrinth Theater Company, presents 'Sweet Storm' by Scott Hudson, who was awarded the Daryl Roth 2009 Creative Spirit Award, Off Broadway at The Kirk Theatre (Theatre Row), 410 West 42nd Street, NYC.

Producer Daryl Roth has announced this year's recipient of the 2009 Creative Spirit Award: LAByrinth Theater Company member Scott Hudson. The Creative Spirit Award was founded 13 years ago to celebrate gifted theatre artists and provide them with support as they develop new work in an artistic residency.

Former Theatre Critic-turned-Playwright Nicholas de Jongh's first full-legth play, PLAGUE OVER ENGLAND - currently running at the Duchess Theatre through May 2 - will be moving to the big screen. de Jongh will pen the adaptation.

The Alchemy Theatre, in association with LAByrinth Theater, presents 'Sweet Storm' by Scott Hudson, Off Broadway at The Kirk Theatre (Theatre Row), 410 West 42nd Street, NYC. Padraic Lillis will direct the new play that features Jamie Dunn and Eric T. Miller. Previews begin on June 11 and the opening will be Wednesday, June 17 at 7 pm. The Scenic & Costume Designer is Lea Umberger; the Lighting Designer is Sarah Sidman and the Sound Designer is Elizabeth Rhodes.

On Wednesday, April 1st, Lauren Graham, star of GUYS AND DOLLS on Broadway, will be featured on The View. Then, on Friday, April 3rd, Graham will be featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The View airs on ABC, channel 7 in the tri-state area and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC, channel 4 in the tri-state area.

The LAByrinth fund-raiser is hosted by Jennifer Chambers, Michael & Marlene Fine, Mara Manus, and Marianne & Steve Mills, and the evening includes supper & cocktails.

Jennifer Cody was the Gypsy Robe recipient for Shrek, the Broadway dynamo passed the robe on to Guys and Dolls ensemble member Lorin Latarro in a fun and emotion filled ceremony. BroadwayWorld's camera shared in the excitement as the cast cheered her on!

The New York Times is revealing that while the current Broadway revival of 'Guys and Dolls' opened on Sunday night to widespread negative reviews, the producers held discussions today about the show's future and have decided to keep it running as they believe in the quality of the production. Variety is reporting that Celluloid Dreams has picked Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut, an adaption of the stage play 'Jack Goes Boating,' which had an award-winning Off Broadway run in 2007. The company has taken international rights to the film, which is an Overture Films release in the U.S.

Variety reports that Philip Seymour Hoffman has picked the film he'll be doing for his directorial debut, Overture Films' 'Jack Goes Boating,' an adaptation of Bob Glaudini's Off Broadway play in which he'll also star. 'Gone Baby Gone' star Amy Ryan will co-star opposite Hoffman, while John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega will reprise their roles from the stage production. 'Jack Goes Boating' premiered at Hoffman and Ortiz's LAByrinth Theater Co. in 2007. Press notes described the play as 'laced with cooking classes, swimming lessons and a smorgasbord of illegal drugs, 'Jack Goes Boating' is a story of date panic, marital meltdown, betrayal and the prevailing grace of the human spirit'.
