Now in its second season since its successful relaunch, the 2015 Barrymore Awards will celebrate and honor outstanding achievements in professional theatre throughout the Greater Philadelphia region during the 2014/15 season.

Theatre Horizon is kicking off 2015 with a re-imagining of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's classic Into The Woods. The show runs tonight, February 5-March 1, 2015. Opening Night is February 12 at 7:30 p.m. The theatre has assembled a cast of local all-stars to tell this timeless tale about the sacrifices we make to see our dreams come true. Tickets cost $25-$43 and are available online at www.theatrehorizon.org.

Over the weekend, the York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Director) continued the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with Malpractice Makes Perfect with Book, Music and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The show featured direction by David Glenn Armstrong, music direction by Amanda Morton, and casting by Geoff Josselson.

The Arden Theatre opened their twenty-sixth season with a stellar production of PARADE. This musical takes place in 1913 and tells the story of Leo Frank who was accused of murdering a thirteen year old girl, Mary Phagan. This show grapples with the trial of Leo Frank, and the racial environment that surrounded the trial in Georgia. PARADE depicts the resentments and fears held by many Georgians during the early twentieth century. The Arden's production of PARADE, under the direction of Terrance Nolan, is powerful, thought provoking, and well executed.

Arden Theatre Company begins its 26th season of great stories with Parade, the musical with book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Directed by Terrence J. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present a private reading of a new musical comedy A DOCTOR IN SPITE OF HIMSELF by Sheldon Harnick, based on Molière's LE MEDECIN MALGRE LUI, today, February 1 at MTC Studios. The musical features a score by Harnick, as well as English Adaptation and Additional Dialogue. The reading will be directed by David Glenn Armstrong, with musical direction by Amanda Morton. The cast will feature Ben Davis, Beth Fowler, David Garrison, Cady Huffman, Charles Kimbrough, Jose Llana, Patrick Richwood, Robb Sapp and Elena Shaddow.
