MOonhORsE Dance Theatre Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Canada's Most Distinguished Veteran Dance Artists

Older & Reckless, MOonhORsE Dance Theatre's celebrated series curated by Artistic Director Claudia Moore, celebrates the company's 20th season with its 39th edition featuring five renowned dance artists. Governor General award winner Margie Gillis (Montreal), dance theatre maverick Robert Desrosiers with cellist/singer Anne Bourne, acclaimed dancer/co-founder of COBA (Collective Of Black Artists) BaKari I. Lindsay, choreographer/director Charles Koroneho (New Zealand), and Claudia Moore in a work byApolonia Velasquez and Ofilio Sinbadinho (Gadfly), take to the stage Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 for three shows only at Harbourfront Centre Theatre.

With the launch of the second season of OpenICE, a multi-year program to engage new listeners for contemporary music through an outpouring of programming that is free and open to the public, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) announces the appointment of Ryan Muncy (ICE saxophonist) and Alice Teyssier (ICE flutist/vocalist) as the new Co-Directors of OpenICE. Muncy and Teyssier have been members of ICE since 2014 and, in addition to their musical roles, serve in the capacities of Director of Institutional Giving and Artistic Operations Associate, respectively.

The Aviva Players will begin its 40th season tonight, October 16 with 'Songs, Piano Rags & Chamber Music by Women Composers, including the Piano Trio by Fanny Mendelssohn,' the first installment of a three-part concert series at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave.  The concert will include piano rags by May Frances Aufderheide, Irene Giblin and Adeline Shepard; songs by Mira J. Spektor, and 'Vocal Duets' and 'The Piano Trio' by Fanny Mendelssohn.  The evening is presented in conjunction with Downtown Music Productions.

The Kitchen and the Goethe-Institut to Present ORIGINALE

Fifty years after its storied New York premiere, The Kitchen and the Goethe-Institut will present a 21st-century staging of Originale, a music-theater piece by pioneering German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007). Directed by Big Art Group's Caden Manson and Jemma Nelson, this staging, much like it's 1964 New York premiere, will feature a notable cross-section of contemporary performance artists and musicians whose actions are organized by Stockhausen's score and accompanied by noted electroacoustic compositions, such as his Kontakte.
