Banff Centre's Mountainside Summer Season Kicks Off With Calgary Old Trout Puppet Workshop's GHOST OPERA

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's Mountainside Summer Season kicks off on May 24 with two extraordinary performances: Ghost Opera produced by Calgary's Old Trout Puppet Workshop and M nowin by British Columbia's Dancers of the Damelahamid. With more than 26 ticketed shows, and over 100 free events, Banff Centre is the place to experience multi-disciplinary art in the Canadian Rockies this summer. Tickets for all shows and events go on sale on March 20 at noon at banffcentre.ca/events

Composer/Performer Kate Soper Hosts & Curates NYFOS

A Pulitzer Prize finalist, Guggenheim fellow, and Radcliffe alum, Kate Soper's music has been described as 'exquisitely quirky' (The New York Times) and 'epic' (WQXR). As a performer, she has been praised as a 'dazzling vocalist' (The New Yorker) and likened to 'Lucille Ball reinterpreted by Linda Blair' (Pitchfork).

Bang on a Can to Present 2019 People's Commissioning Fund Concert

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 7:30pm, Bang on a Can will present the 2019 Bang on a Can People's Commissioning Fund (PCF) concert, one of the most anticipated and reliable launching pads for composers in New York and beyond. The performance is presented as part of Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival at Merkin Hall (Kaufman Music Center, 129 W. 67th St.) and a New Sounds Live co-presentation with host John Schaefer, streamed live at www.newsounds.org.

Douglas Dunn + Dancers Presents APRIL FESTIVAL – EARLY & LATE

Time Out - It was a pivotal year for Dunn. He was thirty-one. He had left the Cunningham Company in the spring of 1973. Grand Union was sporadically continuing. Arnold Dreblatt Returns to The Kitchen This March

On March 22, The Kitchen welcomes back composer, performer and visual artist Arnold Dreyblatt in a shared evening with Brooklyn-based sound artist MV Carbon. For this special concert, Dreyblatt brings along his Excited String Bass (a double bass prepared with unwound music wire) to perform three of his signature works: "Nodal Excitation" (1979), "Calculations" (2005, 2016) and "Spin Ensemble" (2011). Carbon opens the evening by performing "The Quarky Leptonic" (2017), using amplified objects, oscillations, cello, magnetic tape, projection and pattern repetition/variation to experiment with the perception of space and time, as well as the biological response to vibrational frequency and light.
