Forbidden Broadway To Close After 27 Years After Their Final Trip to 'Rehab'

After a record-breaking run of 27 years, including 18 separate editions and more than 9,000 performances, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway will play its final performance on January 15th, 2009, the 27th anniversary of the show's debut at Palsson's Supper Club in 1982.

'Forbidden Broadway Goes to Rehab' Opens 9/17; Dedicated to Memory of Alvin Colt

Gerard Alessandrini's new edition, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY GOES TO REHAB will open on Wednesday, September 17th at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street). The show is now in previews. This edition is dedicated to the memory of the legendary Alvin Colt, who designed the show's costumes for 15 years.

Butler and Forbidden Broadway Cast Ring In The New TKTS

Bensonhurst native KERRY BUTLER, the star of Broadway's musical hit XANADU, Brooklyn Borough President MARTY MARKOWITZ and Assemblywoman JOAN MILLMAN (52nd Assembly District, Brooklyn, NY) will lend a hand to help cut the ribbon at the opening for Theatre Development Fund's new TKTS Downtown Brooklyn Discount Ticket Booth on Thursday, July 10 at 10:15am.

TDF To Present Annual Irene Sharaff Awards

Xanadu star Kerry Butler and Costume Designers Suzy Benzinger, Alvin Colt, Linda Fisher, Jane Greenald, Desmond Heeley, Willa Kim, Eugene Lee, Kitty Leech, William Ivey Long, Jeff Mahshie, Martin Pakladinaz, Sally Ann Parsons, Robert Perziola, Jose Varona, and David Zinn, among others will be celebrating the Theatre Development Fund's Irene Sharaff Awards given for outstanding achievement in costume design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection.

Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary, is adding performances Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 8:15 PM and Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 8:15 PM with the regular performance schedule

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway marked its 25th Anniversary with a brand-new edition Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, at the 47th Street Theatre. To mark the occasion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office of Theatre, Film and Television named October 2, 2007 as 'Forbidden Broadway Day.' Chita Rivera read a proclamation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and unveiled a street sign renaming West 47th Street 'Forbidden Broadway.'

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway marks its 25th Anniversary with a brand-new edition Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47 Street). To mark the occasion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office of Theatre, Film and Television has named October 2, 2007 as 'Forbidden Broadway Day.' At 6PM, prior to the opening night performance on October 2, two-time Tony Award winner (and beloved subject of Forbidden Broadway parodies) Chita Rivera will be on hand to read a proclamation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and unveil a street sign renaming West 47th Street 'Forbidden Broadway.' Opening night curtain is at 7PM.

Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening Postpones Opening to 10/2

Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, the 25th Anniversary edition of Gerard Alessandrini's long-running musical, has moved its opening night performance to Tuesday, October 2. The opening has been delayed a week to allow Alessandrini an additional week to add new material to the latest edition, which is currently in previews at the 47th Street Theatre.

An array of Broadway stars will perform in the Museum of the City of New York's 'Hey, Look Me Over: A Broadway Musical Cabaret,' according to the organization's website.
