Philip Glass to Open 2013-14 Candler Concert Season at Emory

Alisa Weilerstein and Lionel Bringuier To Make ASO Debuts in April

Spoleto Festival USA Announces 2013 Chamber Music Program

Geoff Nuttall, now approaching his fourth season as Spoleto Festival USA's Charles E. and Andrea L. Volpe Director for Chamber Music, has announced the complete 2013 chamber music program for the Charleston, South Carolina based performing arts festival. The 33-concert Bank of America Chamber Music Series comprises 11 programs, each repeated three times throughout the Festival at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm daily. Highlights of the 2013 season include a world premiere by composer-in-residence Samuel Carl Adams and the Festival debuts of the Brentano String Quartet, young Russian pianist Pavel Kolesnikov, and percussionist Steven Schick. Returning to the series in 2013 are bassist Anthony Manzo, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, pianist Pedja Muzijevic, violinist Livia Sohn, flutist Tara Helen O'Connor, clarinetist Todd Palmer, oboist James Austin Smith, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet.

Alisa Weilerstein and Inon Barnatan Announce Two New York Area Concerts with the ASMF, 3/9 & 10

Andrew Haveron will lead cellist Alisa Weilerstein and pianist Inon Barnatan with The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in two New York area concerts during their sixteen-city United States tour. The group will perform on March 9 at 8pm at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center, and on March 10 at 3pm at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts in Flushing, NY.

The Kupferberg Center for the Arts will present the exclusive performance of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Alisa Wellerstein, Cello and Inon Barnatan, piano on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Colden Auditorium at 3:00 pm. The Mahler Orchestra Announces Sydney and Melbourne Dates

Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre today announced the premiere visit to Australia of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO). Regarded as one of the most artistically interesting and successful ensembles on the international classical music scene, the MCO gives two performances at Sydney Opera House on 10 and 11 June followed by two performances at Melbourne Recital Centre on 12 and 13 June.

Festival General Director Nigel Redden today announced the 2013 artistic lineup for Spoleto Festival USA, which showcases nationally and internationally acclaimed artists in a celebration of opera, theater, dance, physical theater, music, and visual arts. The 37th annual Festival, to be held in historic Charleston, South Carolina, from May 24 through June 9, will feature one of Spoleto's largest lineups in recent history, with expanded dance and theater offerings and two original opera productions, as well as a wide range of classical and contemporary music.

Pianist Inon Barnatan Plays 92Y Tonight

Pianist Inon Barnatan will perform works inspired by stories and poems that explore the interconnection of darkness and light in a solo recital at the 92nd Streety Y's Kauffman Concert Hall tonight, December 6, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Part of the four-concert series, Masters of the Keyboard, the program includes a selection of musically diverse pieces including Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, Stevenson's Fantasy on Britten's Peter Grimes, Thomas Ades's Darknesse Visible, Ravel's La valse, and Schubert's Sonata in A major, D. 959.

All three evenings include Golijov's Azul, featuring rising young cellist Joshua Roman, as well as hyper-accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman, and percussionists Jamey Haddad and Keita Ogawa. The three evenings close with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique," what many consider to be the composer's most profound symphony. The Saturday and Sunday programs open with Barber's Essay No. 2.

Gabriel Kahane Makes Carnegie Hall Recital Debut, 10/25

GabrielKahane will return to Carnegie Hall on April 27, 2013, this time in Stern Auditorium. It will be another world premiere: a concerto for himself and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, with which he has served as composer-in-residence for two seasons.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Adds Programs to 2012-13 Season
