Plans were announced today for American Ballet Theatre's 75th Anniversary season by Kevin McKenzie, Artistic Director, and Rachel S. Moore, CEO. The 15-month long celebration will be highlighted by performances of ABT's historic repertoire presented during the Company's 2014 and 2015 seasons, a special PBS American Masters documentary by Ric Burns, a touring exhibit by the Library of Congress, a 75th Anniversary Gala and a new commemorative souvenir program.
The Washington Ballet (TWB) welcomes two new dancers from Cuba and names three dancers from the Studio Company to the performing Company. The Studio Company will also see nine new dancers from the U.S. and abroad. TWB veteran Company dancer Luis R. Torres joins the administrative staff of the organization as the Studio Company and Trainee Ballet Master.
The Joyce Theater will present the U.S. debut of Cuba's MalPaso Dance Company, performing the U.S. premieres of works by Ronald K. Brown and the company's artistic director Osnel Delgado, from May 27 - June 1. This engagement on the stage of The Joyce's landmark Chelsea home marks the first time MalPaso will perform outside of Cuba since the company's 2012 formation. Northrop and the McKnight Artist Fellowship program have announced the 2014 McKnight International Artist and a 2014 partnership with Zenon Dance Company. Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado Wambrug has been selected as the 2014 McKnight International Artist, a program that provides a Minnesota residency for one international choreographer each year to work with Twin Cities dance artists to develop and showcase new work. This year the McKnight Fellowship program cohosts the residency with Zenon Dance Company.

Dirk Badenhorst, CEO of the Cape Town International Ballet Competition, has accepted an invitation to serve as a judge at the Beijing International Ballet Competition in China in July. This will be the first time a South African has been a judge at a Chinese international ballet competition. Dirk Badenhorst joins a distinguished line-up of international ballet personalities who will gather in the Chinese city to assess dancers from around the world as they compete for medals and monetary prizes.

Maria Youskevitch, longtime faculty member at Princeton Ballet School, is one of this year's American Repertory Ballet Gala Honorees, and is the recipient of this year's Audree Estey Award for Excellence in Dance Education. Daughter of one of the leading dancers of the 20th century, Igor Youskevitch, Ms. Youskevitch brings a strong background in and deep knowledge of ballet to her students. She teaches for a variety of levels and, every year, re-stages a full-length classical ballet on Princeton Ballet School students for the School's Spring Production. She has also served as Rehearsal Director for American Repertory Ballet, the professional company associated with Princeton Ballet School, on several occasions.
