Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park Announces 2019-2020 Season

Artistic Director Blake Robison announced Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's 2019-20 season today, which includes plays from Karen Zacarias and Anna Ziegler, a new stage adaptation of a Margaret Atwood novel, a recent Broadway comedy hit and a world premiere from the award-winning, multi-cultural performance ensemble Universes.

Today, Netflix announced it is creating a dedicated production hub in Toronto, choosing two studio spaces in Toronto that expand its production presence in Canada.

COLD WAR Wins American Society of Cinematographers Feature Award

Claiming the coveted Theatrical Award for best cinematography in a motion picture, Łukasz Żal, PSC took home the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Award for his work on “Cold War.” Giorgi Shvelidze took the Spotlight Award for “Namme.” In the TV categories, winners included Adriano Goldman, ASC, ABC, BSC for “The Crown”; Jon Joffin, ASC for “Beyond”; and James Friend, BSC for “Patrick Melrose.” The 33 rd ASC Awards gala took place tonight in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, with Ben Mankiewicz from TCM taking his second turn as host.

Canadian literary icon Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid's Tale, Alias Grace) brings her acerbic wit and inspired originality to the Spriet Stage this January with the Grand Theatre production of THE PENELOPIAD, her sly spin on Homer's The Odyssey. This epic retelling of The Odyssey through Penelope's eyes stars one of Canada's finest classical actors, Seana McKenna, in her only stage appearance this year, directed by acclaimed actor/director Megan Follows. The San Diego International Film Festival (SDiFF), produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, announced today that they have honored Oscar-winning performer Keith Carradine with the Gregory Peck Award, and Zachary Levi, star of New Line Cinema's upcoming superhero adventure Shazam!, with the Humanitarian Award for his work with Operation Smile. The awards will be presented October 11th at The Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CA.  

Canadian Singer And Actor Will Bowes Releases Powerful Pop Ballad 'Mad At The World'

Will Bowes has been writing and performing original music since childhood. His earliest musical influencer was Neil Young, attending his concert at 6 years old. At age 11, he released his first single, September Cry, which he penned in response to the 9/11 tragedies and received a national radio campaign with interviews on CBC Radio One. He is currently the lead singer in Toronto based soul-pop band, Gold Complex, whose debut EP is on regular radio rotation on CBC and CIUT nationwide, having their music licensed along with an on-camera performance on T.V's Open Heart, currently on Netflix. Their full length studio album, New Soul, is due out this fall.

Producer Mary J. Davis and MBL Productions have announced the Cast and women-led Creative Team of UNRAVELED by Jennifer Blackmer. The production will be directed by Kathryn MacMillan, with Scenic Design by Melpomene Katakalos, Costume Design by Elivia Bovenzi, Lighting Design by Kate McGee, and Sound Design by Amy Altadonna. The UNRAVELED cast includes LaDonna Burns, Maxwell Eddy, Lori Hammel, Suzanna Hay, and Kittson O'Neill. Stephanie Clark is the Production Stage Manager, and Jaclyn Lusardi is the Assistant Stage Manager. Casting is by Kate Lumpkin Casting.

Lookingglass Theatre Company Announces The Second Extension Of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEAS

Lookingglass Theatre Company announces an extension of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas adapted by David Kersnar and Althos Low, from the books by Jules Verne, directed by Ensemble Member David Kersnar. Due to high ticket demand, additional dates, August 30 - September 9, 2018, have been added. 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas plays at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. This marks the second and final extension of the production.
