Bob Greenblatt Addresses the Nudity in HAIR LIVE and Hints at Live Christmas Musical for NBC

Bob Greenblatt, who will soon bring a live staging of the musical Hair to NBC in May, will accept the Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award at the 16th annual NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) Conference in Miami, where other honorees include Byron Allen, Mara Brock Akil, Rita Moreno, Betty White and Henry Winkler. Greenblatt recently signed off as the entertainment chairman of NBC, and seems to be focusing on producing for now.

Sony Masterworks Broadway announces the release of RENT - ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK OF THE FOX LIVE TELEVISION EVENT, with music from the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, as performed by cast members, with a live orchestra on stage, during FOX's highly anticipated live broadcast. Available for preorder now, the soundtrack will be released digitally on Friday, February 1, and as a two-disc CD set on Friday, March 1. Included with today's preorder and available now to stream and download is the show's classic anthem 'Seasons of Love (Radio Edit)' - listen here. The live broadcast event airs Sunday, January 27 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), on FOX.
NBC's Landmark Alternative Directors Program Names Inaugural Class

NBC has announced the inaugural class for its landmark Alternative Directors Program, the industry's first directing pipeline program for unscripted shows. With the new initiative, NBC takes a step toward equal representation behind the scenes on alternative series – an unserved part of the industry when it comes to inclusion efforts, despite the prevalence of unscripted shows on TV. The program gives experienced female and ethnically diverse directors access to expand their repertoire of alternative formats and complex directing styles with the ultimate goal of opening the door to future projects.

NBC's next live musical is 'Hair Live!,' the original rock musical that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Stage director Diane Paulus, the Tony Award-winning director of Broadway's 2009 Best Revival of the musical written by James Rado, Gerome Ragni and Galt MacDermot will join Emmy Award-winning Alex Rudzinski, who will serve as live television director as he did for 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.' 'Hair Live!' is set for broadcast on Sunday, May 19, 2019 before a live audience.

THE LAB from West Covina, CA were named the winners of NBC's “World of Dance” Season 2, receiving a life-altering grand prize of $1 million and the title of BEST DANCERS IN THE WORLD. The Junior Team impressed judges with a strong performance to Missy Elliot's “Work It” and a heartfelt performance to “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer, overtaking runner-up Michael Dameski [96.0] with an overall score of 97.5.

The Television Academy tonight presented the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Ceremonies on Saturday and Sunday night honoring outstanding artistic and technical achievement in television at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The Saturday ceremony, which kicked-off the 70th Emmys, awarded many talented artists and craftspeople in the categories of animation, scripted programming including comedy, drama and limited series. The Sunday ceremony honored performers, artists and craftspeople for excellence in variety, nonfiction or reality programming, reality competition programming, music, choreography, as well as documentary or nonfiction specials, informational series or specials.
