An old-fashioned, splashy musical about a working-class Londoner who discovers he's nobility and a world premiere play about the consequences of bullying received the most nominations in the musical and play categories when the nominations were announced for the 41st annual Carbonell Awards, which honors excellence in theater in South Florida.

At the height of the Vietnam War, Lori's brother dodges the draft and her husband enlists. Left alone, faced with grief and loss, she disappears into her imagination. Will she find her way back and discover the strength she needs to move on with her life?

Not a happy piece, but MUD is mesmerizing. As is usual with Thinking Cap's productions.

City Theatre's Summer Shorts Sing

Thinking Cap Theatre will open its 2016 season with OR, Liz Duffy Adams' wild and witty neo-restoration comedy set in the intriguing and intrigue-filled days of Charles II. The play will run at The Vanguard Sanctuary for the Arts in Ft. Lauderdale from tonight, February 19th, through March 5th.

Can you hear the people sing? The Carbonell Awards judges did, honoring LES MISERABLES at Maltz Jupiter Theatre with 10 Carbonell nominations, the most of any musical production. Daniel's Husband at Island City Stage, a world premiere about the importance of marriage equality, garnered six nominations, the most of any play.

'THE GOLDBERG VARIATIONS' is a play that I've been trying to write for thirteen years,' says Stuart Meltzer. 'It was just never ready to come out!'
