The lyrical season will feature 12 titles, such as Turandot, by Busoni, Gianni Schicchi, by Puccini, Le Comte Ory, by Rossini, among others. The program also includes ballets, cinema and music, and concerts in a year in which São Pedro establishes partnerships with the Cinemateca, the São Paulo Companhia de Dança and guest orchestras.
The opera season at Theatro Sao Pedro, will begin with the premiere of Riders to the Sea, by Vaughan Williams, considered the greatest British symphonist. With musical direction by Claudio Cruz and scenic direction by Caetano Vilela, the opera will be preceded by the instrumental work Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, by the same composer.
InterSchool Orchestras of New York and the Mingus Dynasty are collaborating to present MINGUS. This concert features never-before-heard full orchestra arrangements of popular Mingus tunes arranged by Earl McIntyre. It will also feature solo performances by the Mingus Dynasty.
Award winning Jazz Trombonist/Arranger Earl McIntyre is known for his rich tones, incredible brass arrangements and diverse repertoire making him a 'go to' for performances and arrangements ranging from classical to jazz. His new release, Brass Carnival & Tribute!, showcases many of those attributes and more in this groove eclectic set.
