Music Director Delta David Gier Wins 2022 Ditson Conductor's Award

Delta David Gier, distinguished conductor, is the recipient of the 2022 Ditson Conductor's Award for the advancement of American music, Columbia University has announced. Gier will receive $5,000 and a citation on behalf of Columbia's President Lee C. Bollinger. Previous recipients include Gustav Meier, David Zinman, Alan Gilbert, George Manahan, Leonard Bernstein, Marin Alsop, Oliver Knussen, and John Adams.

Cleveland Orchestra Releases Lineup for 105th Season

Today, The Cleveland Orchestra announces its 105th season of concerts at Severance Music Center from September 2022 to May 2023. Marking the 21st year of the ensemble’s acclaimed partnership with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, showcasing extraordinary artistry and more ways of sharing music-making across multiple platforms. Highlights include 20 guest artist debuts, acclaimed guest conductors, and thirteen works being performed for the first time by The Cleveland Orchestra, including four world premieres and one U.S. premiere. Violinist Stefan Jackiw is Set to Perform Alongside the Princeton Symphony Orchestra

On Saturday, May 7 at 8pm and Sunday, May 8 at 4pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents its Milanov & Jackiw concert featuring violin virtuoso Stefan Jackiw. Jackiw performs Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s lush Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 on a program with Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegía Andina and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 56. Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov conducts both concerts at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall, on the campus of Princeton University.Milanov and Jackiw are no strangers, having performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2015, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra in 2019, and, most recently, with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra this past October. Milanov invited the violinist to play with the PSO in March 2020, but that performance was pre-empted by the pandemic.
