With three nights of Beethoven (June 9-11), Pacific Symphony presents “Beethoven's Piano Concertos'—a weekend-long extravaganza belatedly celebrating the beloved composer's 250th birthday. Originally scheduled for March 2020, the beginning of the pandemic necessitated rescheduling.

The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center has announced its 2022 summer season, which features the return of some beloved in-person public events put on pause during the virtual and hybrid seasons of 2020 and 2021. 

Thousands of people gathered on Thursday night to experience the “Breaking Waves” light installation in Hamburg's port. Created by Dutch artist duo DRIFT, the artwork comprises hundreds of illuminated drones that dance around the night sky of the iconic concert hall.

Delta David Gier, distinguished conductor, is the recipient of the 2022 Ditson Conductor's Award for the advancement of American music, Columbia University has announced. Gier will receive $5,000 and a citation on behalf of Columbia's President Lee C. Bollinger. Previous recipients include Gustav Meier, David Zinman, Alan Gilbert, George Manahan, Leonard Bernstein, Marin Alsop, Oliver Knussen, and John Adams.

Today, The Cleveland Orchestra announces its 105th season of concerts at Severance Music Center from September 2022 to May 2023. Marking the 21st year of the ensemble’s acclaimed partnership with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, showcasing extraordinary artistry and more ways of sharing music-making across multiple platforms. Highlights include 20 guest artist debuts, acclaimed guest conductors, and thirteen works being performed for the first time by The Cleveland Orchestra, including four world premieres and one U.S. premiere. On Saturday, May 7 at 8pm and Sunday, May 8 at 4pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents its Milanov & Jackiw concert featuring violin virtuoso Stefan Jackiw. Jackiw performs Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s lush Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 on a program with Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegía Andina and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 56. Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov conducts both concerts at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall, on the campus of Princeton University.Milanov and Jackiw are no strangers, having performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2015, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra in 2019, and, most recently, with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra this past October. Milanov invited the violinist to play with the PSO in March 2020, but that performance was pre-empted by the pandemic.

San Diego Opera's 2021 2022 will close with the West Coast Premiere of Aging Magician a hybrid opera/theatre piece that combines singing, choral work, puppetry, and performance art to create an incredibly unique theatrical experience.

Barbara Quintiliani was the first American woman in twenty-five years to be awarded First Prize in the Francisco Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona. She was also the recipient of the Grand Prize in the National Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, First Place in the Marian Anderson International Vocal Arts Competition, First Place in the Eleanor McCollum Competition at The Houston Grand Opera, First Place of the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation Competition in New York, and a Sarah Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.

The Boston Symphony will return to Tanglewood, its summer home in the beautiful Berkshires since 1937, and to welcome back audiences, July 4–August 26, for the first time since March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a 15-month performance hiatus.

Since the first lockdown in the spring of 2020, the Concertgebouworkest has streamed over eighty compositions in more than forty productions - including thirty-four orchestral programmes – on its website and social media channels.
