Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in Berlioz's Les Nuits d'ete, with mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožena in her Philharmonic debut, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 30 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, October 1 at 8:00 p.m.

Music Director Alan Gilbert opens the New York Philharmonic's 175th anniversary season, which also marks his farewell season as Music Director, with three programs featuring Dvo?ak's Symphony No. 9, From the New World - the Philharmonic's first World Premiere of a work written in New York that would become part of the standard repertoire - alongside a New York Premiere, a Philharmonic debut, and other works and soloists closely tied to the Orchestra.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 28— The San Francisco Symphony and Director of Summer Concerts Edwin Outwater perform a free outdoor concert on Sunday, July 24 at 12 noon on the grassy plaza in front of the James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27, located on the Embarcadero at the foot of Lombard Street. The Orchestra performs a concert of Russian music, including Shostakovich's Festive Overture, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 with pianist Makoto Ozone. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to enjoy during the performance. Valet bike parking will be available.

The New York Philharmonic will dedicate tonight's concert, which opens the 2016 Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, to the victims of the recent tragedy in Orlando and their families. In addition to addresses from the stage, the free concert will open with a performance of Barber's Adagio for Strings, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, in tribute to the victims.

Due to an unanticipated scheduling conflict, Lang Lang is unable to perform with the New York Philharmonic on October 5, 2016, as previously announced. On that program, led by Music Director Alan Gilbert, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 will be replaced by Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, with the rest of the program remaining unchanged: Barto?k's Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta, and Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre, for Trumpet and Orchestra. Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin will make his Philharmonic solo debut performing Mysteries of the Macabre.
