Nicholas McGegan Returns to The Hollywood Bowl to Lead Music by Mozart and Beethoven Tonight

English conductor Nicholas McGegan comes to the Hollywood Bowl for the second time this season to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a program of music by Mozart and Beethoven, tonight, September 3, at 8 pm. LA Phil First Associate Concertmaster Nathan Cole and PrincipAl Viola Carrie Dennis performing Mozart's Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major, K. 364. The program also includes Mozart's Overture to Cosi fan tutte and Beethoven's Contredanses, WoO 14 and Symphony No. 1.

Spend a memorable weekend at Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival. The weekend begins with the Galvanized Jazz Band tonight, August 17 (6:30PM) followed by The Dover String Quartet with acclaimed violist, Roberto Diaz performing Haydn, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn on Sunday, August 18 (3PM). This summer has been one that has featured rarely performed works plus premieres; and this weekend is no exception, with special moments and rare guest artists. The 84th season of chamber music, country and jazz concerts continue at Gordon Hall through September 8.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Announces New Members for 2013-14 Season

Following national auditions, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the new appointments of Principal Timpanist James Wyman, Fourth Chair Viola Rebekah Newman, Second Trumpet Nathaniel Hepler and Second Horn Lisa Bergman; additionally, BSO Violist Karin Brown won an internal audition for the 3rd chair Assistant Principal Viola position. The appointees will begin in the upcoming 2013-2014 season.

Conductor Charles Dutoit returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall, leading the LA Phil in three performances, Thursday through Saturday, February 14 through 16, at 8 pm. The Valentine's weekend program features Gautier Capucon, considered one of the most captivating cellists of his generation, performing Strauss' thrilling Don Quixote, along with LA Phil Principal Viola Carrie Dennis. The program also includes Mendelssohn's evocative Hebrides Overture and Mozart's Symphony No. 29, K. 201.

The Royal Conservatory Announces Upcoming Events

In celebration of Koerner Hall's fifth anniversary, Dr. Peter Simon, President of The Royal Conservatory, and Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts, revealed today some of the details of the 2013-14 concert season. As always, the upcoming season will include pop, world music, and new special series. Classical and jazz concerts are being announced now, and the rest of the season of over 70 concerts will be released in June. Pianist Emanuel Ax will join Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians for a pre-concert chamber music recital -prior to the Orchestra's subscription performance- on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 6:45 p.m. ASO Insider and Program Annotator Ken Meltzer will host the recital, which will feature a complete performance of Brahms's Piano Quintet in F minor. Mr. Ax will be joined by Concertmaster David Coucheron, Principal Second Violin David Arenz, Principal Viola Reid Harris, and Principal Cello Christopher Rex. The recital will take place in Atlanta Symphony Hall, and is free and open to all ticket holders for the November 29-December 1, 2012, concerts. Concert tickets must be shown at entry.

Representatives from labor unions and managements participated in candid conversations about building productive relationships at the League of American Orchestras' 67th National Conference, June 5 - 8, 2012 in Dallas, TX. Nearly 1,000 professionals and volunteers from across the orchestra field attended the event, which also featured performances by the Dallas and Fort Worth symphony orchestras.
